We were lucky to catch up with Dossie Taylor recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dossie, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I believe success is obtained purely through one’s mindset and needs to be reevaluated depending on the time and situation. For example, if someone has a goal set that can only be attained through after an extended period of time they may feel as if they’re failing even as they complete all of their normal tasks. If you’re naturally a big thinker I advise you to break your goals down and execute accordingly. Every day can be a win if you allow it so success is allows attainable.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ll start by sharing I was born and raised right in the heart of Phoenix. Growing up found it interesting that I had met very few successful people that represent Arizona well so I always felt the need to create that representation in any way I could. Going through school I learned that I could catch people’s attention best through my words so I focused on becoming the best writer/speaker I could. Eventually I needed a platform to share everything I was writing with people which lead me to start making music. After ten years of making music I finally decided to start my own record label under Forever Deadly Entertainment where I still release projects to this very day with no intent of stopping any time soon. I knew I made the right decision making music when the people I reached in Arizona started to tell me just how much they relate to the words I was saying. I realized that I could take our stories elsewhere like out of state and I would be effectively sharing Arizona’s words just as I had intended. It’s very important to me that I be an accurate representation of what AZ can build. Soon we will be adding new branches to the team such as clothing, a skate team, gaming, and all types of artists. My goal with Forever Deadly Entertainment is to give the people platforms to express themselves and share with the world as well. There’s a growing sense of love and companionship between the people striving for their goals in Arizona so I’m grateful to be here to witness the amazing things people are doing.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Personally reprogramming myself away from the normal idea people have of success has had the biggest impact on the way I do things. Most people grew up with a very specific definition of success that’s mostly based around possessions and milestones within a job over long periods of time. Although those accomplishments are great, if you are building a brand or business of your own that requires alternate steps it could leave you feeling unsuccessful if you hold onto those beliefs. It’s essential to set a plan that gets you towards YOUR goals in life and it doesn’t have to look like anybody else’s plan to be successful. Once I started to form my vision of success I was able to start properly planning for it rather than following someone else’s plan that simply was not built for me to win in my area.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Typically, much more than clients, I’m always looking for supporters. I’ve learned that the best supporters always come from the natural flow of Arizona life. Lots of music festivals, art displays, vendor meetings and things of those sort. Just about any place where people are gathering in Arizona I’ve found the mission of our brand is always met with full support. Additionally anywhere people are gathering that are dominantly not from Arizona I have the opportunity to leave people with a good view on people from Arizona on a business and personal level as well. Everything is really hands on.
