We recently connected with Dorothy Tannahill-Moran and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dorothy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
When I enrolled in my first Sound Therapist program it wasn’t to become a Sound Therapist. In fact, the idea of starting up another business as I was winding down my coaching business wasn’t something I was interested in. Especially, a business with hard walls, lease payments, and other obligations. I went because I felt a urging to go and at the time, I thought it would be fun to soak up 7 full days of vibrational sound. It wasn’t too long after starting the class and receiving and giving a few Sound Therapy treatments that I had this moment where I thought “this is too good not to share it with the world”. I knew by the end of my class I had to figure out a way to work around the idea of needing to offer Sound Therapy in a fixed space, but still offering Sound Therapy to as many people as I could. The epiphany’s didn’t end there. As I started to seriously provide more Sound Therapy I discovered my acute hearing abilities coupled with my intuition seemed to combine as a powerful combination in the sessions with individuals. The transformations and almost magical experiences were continuing to take place and although each one is surprising and unique – they also proved to me I was truly on a life mission. I had found my calling.

Dorothy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I use Sound, primarily in the form of Tibetan singing bowls, to induce a state of deep relaxation, physical and emotional improvements. This is done either in individual sessions known as Sound Therapy or in a Sound Bath & Meditations (in a group). I provide both services in-person and online. The online aspect is fairly unique for a Sound Healer as those services are generally local and in-person. I provide online Sound Bath & Meditations through my membership website primarily www.aurras.com because the bowls I use are fairly rare. They have been tested and certified to have specific frequencies. Knowing what the frequency is allows me to be very targeted in my approach. Meaning, I can do a Sound Bath & Meditation focused on pain reduction, fear disruption, restoring trust, expanding love, and even emotional release. These are all aspects in our life that is important to shift and these frequencies are targeted to facilitate change in those and many other areas. Because they are so unique, I felt I could reach a bigger audience if I offered them online so people could access them at any time.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
I would absolutely do Sound Healing again if given the chance. I think everything that has occurred in my life and all that I am has led up to this moment in my life. It’s a perfect convergence of my skills and technology. Any sooner such as before the pandemic and the opportunity to take this to an online service would never be something that could considered or offered.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My desire to avoid the overhead of a hard wall office space I think led me to some creative thinking when it came to offering my services. I had to get out of my comfort zone and seek unused treatment space to work out of and find low-cost space for sound baths locally. It caused me to be on the forefront of businesses using zoom to offer energy medicine online. I have had to think and act differently than most sound healers due to my own self-imposed resistance to doing this kind of business the way most of them do. I think it has allowed me to offer some very creative offerings as a result.
