Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dorothy Dawn Malsack. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dorothy Dawn, appreciate you joining us today. Often the greatest growth and the biggest wins come right after a defeat. Other times the failure serves as a lesson that’s helpful later in your journey. We’d appreciate if you could open up about a time you’ve failed
My first body-building contest I placed last. The second one, I placed first. I hired a new coach between the two; one who had success and won competitions as opposed to a friend who was less experience.
My second coach, though I liked the first one better as my friend, really knew his $hizzle. And the funny part it, I worked less hard and ate more with the second coach however took the first place trophy. This teaches us the old American belief, “No pain no gain”, is not always true.
My championship coach taught me to be kind to my body. Fuel my body to make it strong instead of starve it and cultivate a healthy relationship with my body. He was one of the most influential people to me in my life, even though he made me mad sometimes lol ;D
Dorothy Dawn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
In my next life I will be a Detroit sports broadcaster however in this life I am doing what I am most passionate about – helping people find health and happiness. Yes, I was the little girl dressed up in my leotard copying those retro 80’s workout girls on HBO.
I haven’t grown out of it. I studied group exercise instruction and obtained my Bachelor’s of Science in Dietetics at Eastern Michigan University which sets me apart since most “health coaches” out there have minimal education compared to our factual scientifically proven four plus years of education. Meanwhile, I finished my education at University of Michigan interning at the hospital which transpired into working there too!
I also had the honor of landing an internship with Pfizer heading up their corporate wellness department. That is another aspect that sets me apart from my courageous colleagues, RDNs. While they are fabulous at detail most dietitians’ bed-side manors is perceived as a bit cold while I bring a lot of warmth and empathy to my clients.
I moved to California one week after I graduated and started my own business. While I was growing my business, I published my first book, The Best Darn Book About Nutrition & Health, which I am most proud of. I also picked up consultant work for companies such as Kaiser Permanente, Farmodietica, Balboa Bay Club & Resort.
“Now I am here to help you change your life for the better!”
It doesn’t have to be this way; the struggle is real walking around with a big old gut.
There’s too much quack information out there and it’s so confusing deciphering where to turn.
It’s not your fault! Men are ignored in the diet world.
No one understands but I do. I know what to do and how to do it! This is why I created the solution – Nutrition 4 Men.
I am passionate about helping men lower cholesterol/blood pressure naturally through wholesome nutrition. You can eliminate medications because they have many side effects including negatively impacting you sexual performance!
That’s why we have this program for you; you can brag to your doctor that through smart nutritious food choices you naturally lowered your cholesterol/blood pressure and you don’t need your meds anymore. “Bye Felicia!”
In my work, I help you implement a highly personalized nutrition plan designed to lose fat and make muscle gains! Why not increase your stamina, income (fit people make more money), outward appearance and self-confidence? You have nothing to lose (other than weight) and everything to gain!
You are in the right place reading this right now serendipitously if you:
You are tired of fastening your pants under your beer belly
You struggle with high cholesterol/blood pressure
Nobody can sleep in the same room as you because of your snoring
You need to lose weight
You have too much love handles necessary for your lover to grab on to
You are tired of the negative side-effects of your medications
You want to sleep more soundly
You want to increase your sexual performance
You want to put more dollars in your pocket
You want to increase your confidence and outer appearance
How’d you meet your business partner?
My CIO I met at American Junkie on the Newport Peninsula at a Detroit Lions watch party against the Greenbay Packers. He is a Detroit Lion fan as well so he scored points right away.
He and I were just friends for six years, not business partners, until 2020. In the midst we found out we have the same birthday which grew our bond stronger.
COVID changed our life in spring 2020. We both lived alone and found ourselves chatting on Houseparty after all of our friends had gone to bed. He knew how vital my business’ success is #2 in my life (after my family) and he immediately started drawing plans up to lead me in the right direction especially in the technology world which he is very skilled.
Now I own the best website ever because of him and we are not only business partners but lovers. He is inspired by my tenacity and our creative minds are full of ideas like Tasmanian devil spinning top that we have to calm ourselves down to focus. Must be in the stars for November 21st birthday people:)
Does your business have multiple or supplementary revenue streams (like a ATM machine at a barbershop, etc)?
We have supplementary revenue streams from just our medically nutrition therapy in many forms: 1. “Supplements” – literally, supplements that supplements our income. They are available to in our shop to give people faster easier results. I use to not be big into supplements however not that I have experienced them first-hand, especially being a victim of the obesity gene, I know how influential they are in helping me burn excess stubborn fat.
2. Real Estate – we sell homes as a side-hustle and are working building our business specifically on selling healthy smart properties.
3. Travel – we coordinate healthy travels for clients so they do not find themselves stuck pool-side all day ruining all of the progress they have made in their health drinking all day. While we enjoy a cocktail or two, we also like to make activities the focus on vacation, not alcohol – so you have good memories to actually remember.
4. Training – we offer exercise adjunct to the nutritional counseling. I find my clients prefer this over the nutrition coaching sometimes because instead of just sitting talking about food struggles we are moving and discussing it. Kill two birds with one stone.
