We recently connected with Dorna Baghaeiamri and have shared our conversation below.
Dorna, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
I’m super happy with my career, Really enjoying it. Acting was my dream always. Sometimes I think how my life could be if I was a lawyer or a doctor or an engineer, Of course you will make a lot of money but I don’t think that is the lifestyle that I prefer to have. But acting is so different. Acting offers a diverse range of roles and opportunities, allowing individuals to explore different genres, styles, and characters throughout their careers. Being an actor can be a rewarding and fulfilling career that allows individuals to express themselves creatively, grow personally and professionally, and make a positive impact on audiences.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started my career professionally when I was 16 years old and I worked in the music videos. And then after that I auditioned for a tv show which was about to stream on one of the biggest iranian channel, And I got call back and started to work on that tv show as a series regular. After that I got other opportunities to work with some projects in the same channel. When I moved to USA I worked on some short films and commercials as well and looking forward to be in bigger projects.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I’m pretty sure most of the actors know who “ Stanislavsky “ is and how did he impacted a lot of people with his work. So I highly recommend everyone to read his books cause it helped me a lot personally.
1. “An Actor Prepares”: This book is one of Stanislavski’s most famous works and provides a comprehensive guide to his acting method. It explores the inner psychological processes that actors must undergo in order to create believable and authentic performances.
2. “Building a Character”: In this book, Stanislavski delves deeper into the process of creating a character, focusing on the physical and emotional aspects that shape a character’s behavior and motivations.
3. “Creating a Role”: The final book in Stanislavski’s trilogy, this book focuses on the practical application of his method in rehearsals and performances. It provides guidance on how actors can continue to develop and refine their characters throughout the rehearsal process.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I think the best way you can support an artist is to follow their art and ask about it. Usually artists love to talk and explain about their art and how they do it and how does it works. Since social media is where everyone spends their time most of the time, Simply sharing your friends art will help them be seen and people can reach out to them for bigger opportunities.
