Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dorlethia Johnson & Samiyah Hall . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dorlethia & Samiyah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
We don’t think we should have started this any sooner. It happened when it was supposed to. It was a spontaneous idea that came to us during the pandemic. If it had happened any sooner, we don’t think we would have had the time to put as much effort into it. One thing we might have done differently is partner with brands sooner. However, because we prioritize quality over quantity, it has still been a great experience, and we have so much more we want to do with our brand.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We are Momm and Popp, a mother-daughter fashion duo that creates content. We enjoy styling similar pieces from different perspectives. We have both always loved fashion, and my mom has been a key influence in helping me find my style. Our goal is to continue showing people how to style on a budget and also upcycle. Being a fashionista isn’t about how much things cost but how you apply your style to it.
The future of Momm and Popp is bright. We are looking forward to future collaborations and taking our fashion to the next level. We hope to style others as well as create our line one day. Several people who follow us or have connected with us in person have expressed interest in being styled by us!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Our goal for Momm and Popp is to inspire other women to look and feel their best. Through content creation, we have learned to have fun with it. Perfectionism isn’t the goal; we want to show our authentic selves in whatever fabulous garment that might be.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Our advice for building a social media presence is to be consistent and authentic. Quality is important, but we pride ourselves on not over saturating our brand and doing what feels right for us, rather than just following trends. Building a brand takes time, so it’s important to focus on the value of your content rather than the numbers. Someone is always watching. We’ve been surprised several times when people recognize us and mention our content when we’re out.
