We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dorian Harris a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dorian, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
In the beginning, I pursued my passion for music and art from my childhood. Over time, my experiences showed me a vision for me as a curator for my culture. My music interests lead to marketing and advertising, and turned into event curation. I listen to the thoughts and energy of my community, and develop spaces for the people to embrace and enjoy.

Dorian, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My early beginnings started as an independent artist and graphic designer. Over the last 15 years, those roles lead me to hosting my own events. After working with a previous partner, we started a R&B party that became very successful. That event put me on the radar of venue owners in my city and from there I became an event promoter. My goal is to provide experiences for people to enjoy and get a release from their everyday lives. I smile anytime I can watch the reactions of the attendees at my events when their enjoying the vibes and shows. I want people to feel like the admission and attendance is worth every dime.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Authenticity, has been a great asset to me. I make sure people receive above and beyond what they paid for. I see others try to manipulate people with their products and businesses and it damages their reputation forever. I also like being honest with people, personally. I know how I want to be treated as a consumer, so I treat others the same way. But people expect a certain quality because I consistently focused on maintaining that within my events.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Referrals always are the best. The proof is there when others suggest my events and/or services. If you do good work, people will be proud to tell others about you.
