We were lucky to catch up with Dorian Gayle recently and have shared our conversation below.

Dorian , appreciate you joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?

Yes. I do often think about what my career would be like had I started earlier in my life.I told a joke in front of an audience for the first time at age 16. If I started at 10 or 9 years old,I would have so much knowledge. I believe everything happens in God’s timing ,so I know I’m at the right place in my journey.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Dorian Gayle represents the strongest aspects of stand up comedy, content creation and acting.Dorian was just 16 years old when he wanted to quit his Pop Warner football team and pursue my career in stand up comedy. What sets Dorian apart from other comedians is not just his talent but his voice. Dorian has performed over 100 voice impressions throughout his career in comedy. He has also filmed advertisements for corporations such as BET and Burger King.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

In May of 2023,I had the opportunity to be apart of a BET/McDonald’s advertisement. I drove to Miami and as soon as I was within 1 street of the commercial filming location,I caught a flat tire.I was stuck,I had never changed a tire before but I was determined to get to be apart of this once in a lifetime experience. I called my producer, told him I would be late and he told me to take my time. My hubs caps on my tire were so tight it took me 3 hours to completely change my left rear tire. Once I did it I was able film the BET /Mcdonald’s Ad. The advertisement was distributed across various digital platforms including racking up over 3 million views on Youtube. I’m glad I maintained my emotion and perseverance in order to get to one of my biggest career goals

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

I’ve lost a lot of people in my life. From 2018 to 2021 a lot of my loved ones passed.When my loved ones were alive they would tell me things like “your going to be big one day”, and “you’ll be on the big screen”. So far I have upheld their legacies, I will make sure their prophetic words they said to me come to fruition.
