We recently connected with Doria Karina Greenland and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Doria Karina, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
In order to be “successful” it makes a lot of sense to define what success actually is. Success is not a one-size-fits-all definition. In personal experience, defining this vision provides a compass for the journey that is unique and fulfilling for each of us.
When I first started my reiki practice success meant the ability to honor creative expression by being my own boss, setting my own hours, empowering as many people as possible through energy work, and having fun while doing so. Being an entrepreneur, I have found it necessary that in order to achieve this I have had to take risks, have faith, and set clear intentions.
If you don’t honor your vision, nobody else will. Trusting yourself is so important to success. Thinking back to what sparked joy in childhood can be so helpful in aligning with the passion that defines success for each of us.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I own Mojave Reiki, an energy healing practice that I founded in 2021. I’m located in the Joshua Tree Hi-desert which is well known for being a very powerful energy vortex. What started off as a passion project has grown through word of mouth. I now have clients from all over the world who have visited the studio and continue to work with me through distance sessions. What is unique about my practice is that I facilitate energy healing experiences that go beyond reiki to incorporate life guidance, vibrational sound healing, and oracle card readings. Having a background as a nurse, I am more of a practical energy healer. I believe in tangible results for my clients. My signature offering is the Mojave Reiki experience, a two-hour energy-healing journey that I’ve had the honor of guiding hundreds of people on.
Starting this practice came from a desire to offer a place that I would want to go to when I needed a little extra assistance navigating this human experience. Most clients who come to see me are seeking something more from life. They are either at a crossroads and looking for guidance, working through health ailments, going through relationship transitions, or seeking someone they can turn to as they traverse their own spiritual awakening. Many individuals who come to the studio have never had energy work before. I see myself as a guide, but the energy that flows through me brings people back to their own truth.
Some people are curious about my typical client, and I would be lying if I said I had one. I’ve helped military personnel suffering from PTSD, as well as doctors and nurses looking for alternative healing methods for themselves and their patients. People in the entertainment industry come to see me to assist with their creativity, as well as therapists who are looking to expand their awareness of themselves to show up in a more effective way for their clients. I’ve also helped business owners who are looking to find their own center as they navigate the stresses of being their own boss. Artists and musicians have found great benefit with their inspiration, as well as individuals who are also in the healing arts looking to rejuvenate and restore. It’s been so rewarding introducing people to energy work for the first time in a way that makes them feel safe, and seen, and yields results that are noticeable in their lives.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I grew up in a big city, where starting a business usually required seeking funding, a team to do social media, someone to build a website, and a lengthy business plan. Moving to a small town I have had to learn a lot about what it means to create something from the heart and just go for it.
I am so inspired by the small business owners of the Hi-desert who with passion, and perseverance have created offerings for the community that share the gifts they have to provide. I have had to un-learn the concept that everything has to be huge, and has to take a long time to finally be a part of this world.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Being my authentic self has helped a lot with regard to building my reputation in the area of energy work. I created my own offering that I would wish to experience, and I wholeheartedly believe in the work I do. If I were to give advice to other entrepreneurs looking to build a name for themselves, it would be to do something you love and let the work speak for itself. So many of my clients have enjoyed their sessions so much they tell others about it and help spread the love, which in turn helps people find my services. Trying to convince someone they need something does not come from an authentic place. It’s like the saying goes; build a beautiful garden and the butterflies are naturally attracted to it because they know it will nourish them.
