Donye, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I knew I wanted to pursue my path when I first performed in front of my high school crowd!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into making music by doing something my family wasn’t familiar with. My whole family are into music when it comes to singing, playing organ, drums, bass guitar, etc but they have never had a rapper in the family and that’s where I came in. Since I was young, I’ve always looked in the direction of music artist like Chief Keef to get inspiration from and work on my craft according to how he would work. I feel like the services I provide in my music are relation and inspiration to learn to be okay with the how things turn out in their lives and if they aren’t satisfied, to work harder than ever before. What sets me apart from other artists is my ability to be as versatile as I can be with a different message than what everyone else may be pushing out. The number one thing I’m most proud of is my absolute ability to keep it going no matter what. There have been things fighting against me, things that want me to quit but I simply refuse because if I quit now, I will never know if I would’ve ever reached my full potential and I can’t do that to myself. If I want my fans to know anything about me, it’s that I will always be the most real and authentic version of myself I can possibly be. I will never switch up, or fake it til I make it to make it anywhere.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
One of my most potential goals is to perform in front of hundreds of thousands of people while they sing my songs back to me in such an inspiring and life changing way not only for me, but for my family, my friends, and my fans
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is to know that one of your songs touched someone’s soul and may have potentially impacted their life in a positive way. There’s no greater feeling than to know that you have had an amazing impact on someone else’s life based off of the words you spoken in a song.
