Donya, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I think I started at a good time. I do wish I would have kept going when I was younger, but taking a break made me realize this is a real passion of mine. I started when I was younger, but I lived in a terrible state for growth. I was still in high school, so it wasn’t like I had the ability to just move.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hi I’m Pro4ecy, I’m an entertainer, (Magic, Comedian, Model, Photographer, Actor, and Writer,) but I mostly do magic! I got into entertainment when I wanted to do magic. I started in high school and was lucky enough to get a mentor who took me under his wing and took me on tour with him. From there my curiosity got the best of me. I dove in and now if you need basically anything I’m your guy. In this industry you run into every problem you can basically think of. Luckily I listen to other entertainers who have matured in this stuff. Now, I learned to work on my crafts and always get better. Ive done last min. shows, I have had shows where I was the featured, (guest) act, but had to headline cause the headliner never showed, or canceled. No matter what happens I can figure out an answer.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The praise from people who later become fans. Sometimes this life is draining, especially if you have responsibilities. So to get those applause and cheers are a great feeling. Sometimes even a like or two extra on social media is rewarding.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Yeah. I live in a place where theres a metal ceiling. I wish it was glass then I can break it. Living in a place like this is terrible for someone in my shoes. It’s not all bad though. I’m so devoted to what I do and what I want. I leanred how to think a little different. Instead of asking friends who never show up to shows. I learned how to ask their friends, stangers to me. I never went to their profiles and solicited my shows, or things I was featured in. I worked hard and grew as an entertainer, to where my friends would tell there friends, which now by word of mouth made them curious. Its really sad when strangers are willing to go to your shows than your friends. I also went to strange places outside of where I lived. This helped me experience different people and audiences
