We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Donvarcia Duncombe a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Donvarcia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Always listening to persons on the radio or watching them on T.V it was always a dream to do it like they did. But more so the most important part was working towards it and never giving up!

Donvarcia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi there! My name is Varcy and I’m a Recording Artist and a songwriter from The Bahamas . I started recording and writing in 2016 after pursuing music with bands, choirs and organisations in the previous years. I’ve always had a love for music and inevitably found ways to grow closer to it. I got into recording after I was unable to find suitable bands for me perform in, I wanted to continue building my brand and recording was the best way to do so. I always pride myself on the capability to invest and sacrifice for a bigger cause. I think creating a professional atmosphere for yourself from the start is the best ways to grow. I’ve also learned that taking risks are going to be big moments in your career, it must happen. As a songwriter and recording artist holding yourself accountable to a certain standard is what you appreciate later down the line when creating great work ethic. Be the one that takes yourself more serious. I song write mainstream sounds and cinematic music. Throughout my career I’ve had to wear many hats which pulled different strengths and capabilities I didn’t know I possessed. I’ve definitely taken the long road, I think things last longer that way and there is much more appreciation in the, ‘ Wait’. For me I’ve grown closer to God in the wait more than anything. As of recent I’ve been diving into genre fusions more than anything. Ive found myself bringing solutions to persons that may have overlooked areas in their lives they could capitalise on. What I think sets me apart is my faith and perseverance to create in midst of adversity, I appreciate the small things and they usually multiply into bigger blessings. I’m proud of not giving up! A lot of my work has come back full circle and I can’t wait to see the others follow suit. What I look for in potential clients is the ability to write songs that resonates with their project need while still being able to be creative. For the fans I would love a system of love and support and persons that appreciate the details I put into my work, there are always details hidden in each piece I provide. I’d love for my followers and fans to understand that things are even more possible when we invite God to journey with us. I would want them to know my brand is authentically me and I’ll work hard for it to remain that way.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
A lot of my music shoots are prime examples of not giving up. Each one of them are reminders to me that nothing happens without hard work. I remember I had this shoot to do in Georgia. I came all the way from the Bahamas and I had a time frame to get it done in a day. I really tried to locate the area I was supposed to shoot at and I was pressed for the time, the videographer was waiting and the GPS kept taking me to the wrong place. I almost gave up on the shoot until I found a way to figure it out, when I finally got there everything started falling into place. It was definitely a miracle, I felt so defeated during my time of struggle and confusion but I was highly rewarded because I didn’t give up. I always look back at that day and laugh. There was so much more to story of course lol and ill never forget it.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding thing is watching your visions come to life and realising that it speaks to the heart of someone else.
