We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dontrece Woodson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dontrece below.
Dontrece, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Balancing a private chef career, single motherhood, and a full-time job is a high-stakes juggling act. One notable risk I took was deciding to scale back my traditional job hours to devote more time to growing my private chef business. This decision meant giving up some financial stability and benefits, while making sure I am still providing for my son. This was necessary to build a solid client base and increase my income potential from the private chef venture.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Chef D! From Into The Soul of Things. I wanted to create southerncooking food for the soul with a twist, to fulfill my client’s needs. I offer private chef services, participate in vendor functions, catering, and pouring back into my local community. I am most proud of the success and satisfaction of not just my clients, but everyone around me. Showing the highest level of customer service. I am a chef that I can honestly can say I do it all!. Not just food, but desserts as well.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
A few things I believe that has helped my small vision be successful so far. I have never changed who I am or the integrity of my business. I treat anyone and everyone with appreciation and gratitude. Showing everyone around me for my business, I am here to serve you. In more words or less, I treat everyone of my clients as close family and close to my heart.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
There are many lessons I had to not only unlearn, but learn as well. The number one is patience. Understanding things take time, and not be consumed by failure or fear. Not focusing on success of others around me. We are in a world where there are alot of individuals that may be in the same industry. So focusing on how you put yourself out there is key, and remaining true to your craft.
