We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Donric Mark II. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Donric below.
Donric , appreciate you joining us today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
I’m more than happy to be a business owner it’s an understatement to say I’m blessed. I always push people to be a entrepreneur because of the pros that come along with it. For example; the money is infinite(you can always make more), flexible hours, with endless opportunities.
I’ve worked numerous 9 to 5 jobs for years. However, each day I prayed to God knowing there was something better for me. With faith & hard work I am now a successful CEO. I don’t knock a 9 to 5 just don’t allow it to consume you or your goals.
Donric , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My business idea came about due to my previous work experiences. I’ve worked for several moving companies from the age 18-21. I never thought about creating my own company until I was let go from the last company I worked for(at the age of 21). I knew I had to have a game plan ready & set for my life so the idea of creating my own company started to form.
Starting is always the hardest part of creating your own business. But I can guarantee you once you begin you have opened doors for yourself. I started my company “Marks Prime Moving” September 20, 2021. We provide local, commercial, & long distance(interstate & intrastate moves). Starting the 7 month we’re now on pace to accumulate 6 figure 1st year, ranked in Dallas, & average a 5 star rating. There’s no recipe to success just have faith in God & work hard at your craft/business everyday!!!!
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
No business can succeed consistently if you aren’t taking care of your employees/team. I always do the little things to make my guys feel appreciated. I’m actually in the field with them day in and out, buy them lunch, & compliment their hard work continuously. I understand I’m the CEO but my company can’t succeed if I don’t have employees who believe in the vision.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Doing everything by yourself doesn’t necessarily mean your this extreme hard worker. In fact you aren’t valuing your time, doing it by yourself isn’t smart build a team around you to prevent stress.
