We were lucky to catch up with Donnell Mann recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Donnell , thanks for joining us today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. So, we’d appreciate if you could open up about your growth story and the nitty, gritty details that went into scaling up.
Mannnnn, how did I scale up? The truth is, it started with a lot of prayer, faith and consistency. You are so right when you say it does not happen over night. I remember me and my wife praying every night asking God to give us the strength and determination it will take to be successful. To also surround us with the right people who will encourage and help us scale up. I remember getting my real estate license and walking into the doors of Keller Williams Premier in Katy, Texas and knowing this broker will help me get to the next level. No, the next level was not immediate transactions and money flowing in. The next step in scaling up was to learn, to learn what it would take to build a real estate business that would build wealth for me and my family. To learn what it would take to help others build a legacy that would last a lifetime through real estate. I remember I was working two other jobs to provide for my family and taking broker lead real estate classes to prepare me to scale up. There was long nights and even longer days. My wife would be so amazing when I was making lead generation calls by taking care of our son and feeding me. We prayed, had faith and consistently did the things we learned to be successful and we are still praying, having faith and doing the things we learned. There were nights I was so tired I wanted to give up. Then I would remember the vision God gave me and I would push forward. I allowed the people around me to speak into my life and do the things my broker taught me consistently. Before I knew it, it began to pay off. I began to have impact in peoples lives and myt real estate business started to scale up.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
A little about me… First and most I love Jesus. Everything I do, I try my best to have it rooted in that fact. I got into real estate because it has helped my family begin a wealth building process that I wanted to share with others. There is such a misconception on homeownership, that many people give up before they even try. I want to help those people make homeownership a reality. I got into real state so that I could help others build a legacy that would last a lifetime through real estate. Legacy is so much bigger then money, it is bigger than just real estate. I do not just help my clients buy, sell or invest real estate. I help them first find out what does the legacy they want to leave look like? What is the first step in that legacy? Does it even start with real estate or does it start at a different spot? That is what makes me different. I walk with my clients, I do life with them. In that we are able to truly start the legacy building process. So, what is my brand, what am I most proud of? My heart for my future friends and family who will allow me to help them build legacy.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients has been my authenticity. Lead generation is a must in any business. However, more importantly is your motivation. Why, do I do what I do? When me and my wife started on this journey it was and still is to help others build a legacy that will last a lifetime. Everyone’s legacy looks different but our purpose stays the same. We stay true to our heart, put Jesus first and that has been the best way for us to get new clients. Those clients have come from all different places, however most have come from the people that are already in our life.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
The Bible has taught me to be a Servant Leader and gives me the foundation I need in my personal and business life. That is my first source. Now, Gary Keller has written some amazing books that have shaped how I do business. The MREA (Millionaire Real Estate Agent, Profit First and The One Thing are just a few that Have truly helped and shaped my real estate business. Also there are podcast for all these books as well.
