Donna, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I decided that I wanted to start doing makeup professionally because my friends and family encouraged me and I wanted to help other women feel as beautiful as I do when my makeup is done
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a freelance makeup artist that got started in 2020 because I wanted to get better at doing eyeshadow on myself and it blossomed into a fond love for makeup and beauty. What sets me apart from other artists is the experience that you will have when you sit in my chair when you leave you will be a baddie. What I am most proud of is all of the love I get from my audience even on days that I dont feel my best they keep me going and the fact that I inspire women and girls to look and feel their best
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I had a period towards the end of 2021 that I felt stagnant and that no one was booking with me and I was seeing my peers booking and getting clients and made me feel like I wasn’t good enough but my mentor encouraged me to keep going in spite of the slow period and that got me through
How did you build your audience on social media?
I have been on social media since around 2006 and I have built my audience by being consistent and interacting with my followers at first I was a little scared like what if they don’t like me lol but once I overcame that fear it became easier. So I would say to someone that wants to build an audience on social media consistency is key and be yourself
