We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Donna Taylor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Donna, appreciate you joining us today. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
When women see me they automatically think I am stuck up . I have had some self confident challenges in my early twenties and part of my thirties because I allowed people in my life in relationships that my me feel less than .I use to put sticky notes on my mirrors to remind myself how beautiful and how smart I was. Once i gave my life to Christ that’s when I began to really know my worth. So on that Sunday in 1999 was when I decided I wanted to change and be happy . So now that I am in a place in my life of self confident , self -assured and giving my self the love that I needed become whole happy and healthy .So that’s why when I go to places I get the looks but I am confident not stuck up just sure of who I am a woman of God.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I grew up in a two parent household my brother and I . I watched my mother take care of the household and made sure my brother and I was taken care of . My father was a functional alcoholic and ran the streets and women . I decided to start a non-profit organization for young girls because I wanted them to know and see that even when life throws you challenges you can bounce back and achieve your dreams and goals if you stay focused . I let them know that challenges can make or break us depending how will allow it to affect us .I am an Author, ” An Imperfect Marriage Saved by Grace” podcaster , and a model and started a boutique called “Freshlook Couture “. I have been through so many things in my life that they propelled me to start my DTaylor Ntwork , and all the other things that I am doing being a motivational speaker empowering women to grown and step out follow their dreams .The one thing that i am truly proud of is still being able to push my podcast weekly and continue to thrive no matter what .I spend a lot of time building my brand daily trying to improve it but by building my brand I make sure that my name speak for me before they see my brand .
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
DTaylor Ntwork was birth in Feb 2021 and it started from me selling Paparazzi Jewelry and at the end of my lives would always give encouraging words and the then God said move it to this platform so it will grown even greater . I began to interview guests from all of the US some I knew through fashions ,single moms ,author, Pastors ,models actress/actors . This platform allow their stories to be heard as well as their product/services . I would still give encouraging words on this planform as well .So I built my podcast by staying consistent . Being consistence is the key to building a brand and that is one thing you need to build especially on social media . I also promote my podcast with flyers that i send to my guest as well to promote on their page as well. I use Instagram, Twitter , Tick Tock and i have a You tube channel as well. So the most powerful advice I could give is Promote , Consistency ,and stay true to yourself .
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The goal that keeps me driving on my creative journey is knowing the bigger picture is owning my own Network . I have to stay focus on staying consistence in promoting my brand makes me work harder .
