“Success, to me, is waking up feeling light, free, excited, aligned, joyful, and energized.”
These feelings aren’t just fleeting moments; they’re my compass for living a fulfilling life. I believe that success is much more than financial milestones or career achievements—it’s about how I feel every day, doing what I love and finding purpose in it.
Feeling light and free comes from knowing I’m on the right path, aligned with my values and passions. Whether it’s running Dowco Enterprises or maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces, I focus on projects and people that bring me joy and reflect who I am at my core.
Being excited and energized means waking up with a sense of purpose, ready to tackle the day’s challenges, not out of obligation but genuine love for what I do. One of the things that truly excites me is seeing my team step out of their comfort zones. I’ve seen employees volunteer to lead a training session, take on a new skill, or when the leadership team collaborates to solve problems creatively. It shows me that they’re not afraid to fail, and that’s when real growth happens. I know I’m doing my job when they feel safe enough to stretch themselves and take risks. Watching them succeed and grow from those experiences is one of my greatest joys.
Alignment is key for me, especially when balancing my personal life with my business. If I’m doing work that doesn’t feel authentic or if my personal life is out of balance, it affects everything. That’s why I strive to create peaceful spaces not just for my clients but also for myself and my team—spaces where we can all feel connected to something bigger than ourselves.
And joy, well, that’s the heart of everything. I find joy in the small, beautiful moments—whether it’s seeing a garden bloom or hearing feedback from a happy client. Our work is consistently wonderful, and we often receive compliments. Knowing that our client’s properties are entertainment-ready 24/7 brings me so much joy because it means we’re making a lasting impact on their lives, creating spaces where they can make memories with family and friends.

I’ve been part of this industry for decades, but my love for creating beautiful outdoor spaces started long before then, inspired by my mother, who was an active member of a garden club. From a young age, I was passionate about flowers and landscapes, and I even won a ribbon in a grade school flower arrangement contest. That passion only grew as I got older, and I’ve been fortunate enough to turn it into a career that brings me so much fulfillment.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building an audience on social media has been an exciting and collaborative effort for us at Dowco Enterprises. One of the things I’m most proud of is how our production staff—those out in the field doing the work—contribute to our content creation. We run a weekly photo contest where our production crews submit photos from the job sites. We all vote on the best submission, and the winner receives a gift card. It’s fun, encourages creativity, and really showcases the pride our team takes in their work.
Success in social media comes from consistently creating content and connecting with your audience. It’s not something you can do once and walk away from—it takes ongoing effort. What’s worked for us is that we’ve made it a team initiative, and our field staff play a massive part in it. They capture the beauty of the projects we work on, and I couldn’t do this alone. Their contributions make our social media presence authentic.
My advice for those just starting to build their social media presence would be to involve your team, especially those who are out there every day bringing your business to life. Their unique perspectives add so much value to your content. Also, be consistent with your posts and engage with your audience. The connection you build with your followers keeps them coming back.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
When managing a team and maintaining high morale, my biggest advice is to genuinely care about your staff. We have quite a few employees. I may not know each person individually, but I always assume that they want to be treated the way I would want to be treated. Creating a culture of care isn’t just about grand gestures—it’s about the small, consistent actions that show you value your team.
One thing we do at Dowco is ensure we have processes in place that make caring more manageable and systematic. For example, any day the temperature is forecasted to go over 95 degrees, we have cold treats like Gatorade, ice pops, or watermelon waiting for our team at the end of the day. It’s a small gesture, but it goes a long way in showing that we’re looking out for their well-being.
Maintaining high morale isn’t just about recognition or rewards—it’s about creating an environment where your team feels appreciated and supported. Whether through these small acts of care, offering growth opportunities, or involving them in decision-making, it’s about building trust and respect. When your team knows you care, they feel more motivated, leading to a more vital, positive workplace.
Ultimately, it’s about consistency—showing up every day with the same care and attention. A team that feels valued and cared for will give their best, not just because they’re expected to, but because they believe in the culture we’ve built together.
