We recently connected with Donna Consiglio and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Donna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe success requires adaptability, a willingness to learn, and a supportive network. For example, during a recent writing group meeting, there was a discussion about presentations. Someone mentioned podcasts, and my creative brain instantly made the connection between the two concepts. Combining the two ideas, I dove headfirst into the world of podcasting. Thanks to my adaptability, eagerness to learn, and the support of my writing group, I quickly secured guests and set my Writers Helping Writers podcast in motion.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m all about writing and everything related to the world of writers. I love bringing humor into the writing process, celebrating the quirks and challenges we face as writers. I’ve created fun products like stickers, notebooks, journals, and clothing, all with a focus on what writers do when they’re not writing. I’ve also made hundreds of memes, graphics, and anecdotes to share with the writing community.
My journey began when I playfully created a “404 Error: Book Not Found” excuse for writer’s block, which my writing critique group loved. From there, my brand grew into a space where writers can take a break from writing, laugh at ourselves, and connect with others who share our experiences.
I’m most proud of my ability to adapt and evolve when facing challenges. While my original plan for a book didn’t work out due to unforeseen quality issues, I’m turning that material into a workbook to help other writers. Additionally, my Writers Helping Writers podcast is a platform for writers to support each other in our creative journeys.
At the core of my brand is the belief that writers can find connection, humor, and inspiration even when they’re not actively writing. We’re all in this together, and our shared experiences make the journey that much more meaningful and enjoyable.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I initially created my book, I was excited to share my ideas and experiences with fellow writers. However, when faced with unexpected quality issues that prevented me from publishing the book as I had envisioned, I knew I had to make a choice: I could either give up or adapt my material into a different format.
Driven by my passion for helping other writers, I chose the latter. I decided to transform the content into a workbook, offering interactive activities and resources for writers to grow and learn from one another. Additionally, I’m channeling my energy into my podcast, providing a platform for writers to connect and support each other.
This experience taught me the importance of resilience and adaptability in the face of challenges. By embracing change and focusing on my underlying vision, I found new ways to share my message and connect with my audience.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is my constant discovery of new ideas and fresh perspectives. My mind automatically connects everything I see—from advertisements to movies and even everyday items in a store—to writing or the creative process. It’s like my brain is always on the lookout for inspiration, and I find joy in the unexpected connections that lead to new concepts and creations. Sharing my ideas with fellow writers and seeing them laugh and connect with my thoughts is an amazing feeling that makes being creative even more enjoyable.
