We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Donna Brown a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Donna, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.

In August 2014 while on a family vacation, my kids were cliff jumping and asked me to join. I declined and played photographer for nearly 2 hours capturing all of their thrills and fun. My daughter continued to ask me to join and I continuously said ‘no.’ As the window of opportunity was closing (the tide was going out and would no longer be safe), I realized if I left without jumping, I would go on to regret it and did not want one more regret in my life. I made my way to the top of the cliff, took a deep breath, and through total fear I leaped! I pushed off the sandy bottom and came out of the water fist in the air, screaming I DID IT! It was the most exhilarating feeling I can remember having aside from jumping from a plane at nineteen-long ago when I was fearless!
That leap completely changed my life and I began to see myself as brave and confident! As the Universe would have it, I was scheduled to attend a one-day workshop arranged by friends where I met the woman who became my first coach. That meeting opened up new doors for me as I spent a year working on myself, my beliefs, my mindset and learned to dream again.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

I am Donna Brown, an Intuitive Energy Coach and Guide. I love supporting and guiding women who feel stuck and have put their dreams on the back burner while taking care of everyone else. They are ready to dust off their dreams and I am thrilled to support them in aligning them with who they are now and guide them step-by-step to find joy, passion, and purpose. I am quite familiar with this space. I loved being a mom to my 3 children (now 28, 26, and 22) and totally hid behind that role because I had no idea who was without that title. I left college before graduating and that decision left me feeling like a failure and I saw myself as not being smart. That view of myself kept me playing small for over 30 years! I had been living with regret, self-doubt, low self-esteem, overwhelming feelings of not belonging, and no idea who I was outside of being a mom. There was a long period of time when I had trouble finding my smile, finding my joy, and didn’t think it was possible. I hid, didn’t participate in conversations, said ‘no’ to most things and I am certain over that time I never wore a smile as big as I do now. I attended more events, focused on uncovering who I was and my true desires, rediscovered my bravery, and began to say ‘yes’ to any and every opportunity that I was drawn to including writing a chapter in collaborative books “Women Who Ignite” in 2016. In 2020, I contributed to two more collaborative books “Women Who Rise” and “Permission Granted”, in 2022 “Invisible No More” and “Leading With Legacy” and in 2023 “Dear Younger Self.” I share my story so others know they are not alone on their journey.

I am now an Energy Intuitive Guide and Coach, Crystal Expert, Reiki Master, 6-time #1 best selling Author, Speaker, and I know with confidence — I impact the lives of the women I guide and support through my coaching and Reiki programs.

My two favorite tools I use are my pendulum and tuning fork. I first learned about pendulums during my crystal training course and I discovered it was the perfect tool to select the exact right crystals for myself and my clients. I then discovered it was helpful in answering ALL questions! The questions must be in ‘yes’ or ‘no’ format and my pendulum reveals the answers! It amazes and surprises me and yet often months after providing an answer to a client, they let me know it was exactly right! My tuning fork is such a gift which provides instant calm. I use it whenever I want to ground myself or desire self-care (daily!) and use it during all of my client sessions for them and for me.

I share what I have accomplished because I am in awe of all of it! I was unable to see anything beyond my feeling stuck. It wasn’t until I leaped through my fear that opportunities became available.

All of my experiences and all that I have learned allow me to support my clients with compassion and to guide them in releasing their beliefs and emotional and energetic blocks that are no longer serving them so they are able to live in joy and love.

Each of my client’s journeys are unique to them so I tailor my support to them individually.

I am also incredibly grateful to be able to support my clients wherever they are geographically. Energy is not bound by time or distance! I am so grateful for technology for us to connect wherever they are in the world!

I want everyone to know that it is never too late to say ‘yes’ to yourself!
The cliff appears when the pain of staying where you are is greater than the fear of taking the leap! The leap is anything you are walking toward or away from.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

Word of mouth has definitely helped me to gain exposure and client testimonials have helped to build my client base. I have aligned with like-minded entrepreneurs and enjoy collaborating with others so we can impact each other’s communities.

I find that maintaining belief in myself is crucial and continue to learn and to grow and understand my individual client’s needs.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?

I follow several thought leaders and successful entrepreneurs online as well as listen to podcasts and I am open to learning and up-leveling my skills and knowledge whenever I can. I am always open to learning and focusing on self-development. Some that I follow are Michelle Sorro, Jack Canfield “The Success Principles”, Brene Brown ”Dare to Lead” and “Daring Greatly” specifically.
