Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Donn Rabot. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Donn , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump back to the first dollar you earned as a creative? What can you share with us about how it happened?
I started my Rack City Low Bikes business during the pandemic when I tore ACL playing basketball end of 2019. I had surgery 2020 and riding bike was part of my physical therapy. I would ride lowrider bikes all the time. I started a instagram to promote my bikes and my first client was Saweetie and jhene aiko they was looking for a lowrider bike for their music video “back to the streets” their team hit me up on a rush call to bring some bikes out so I rented them out and the rest is history. I’m the go to for lowrider bikes for tv/music/film production

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Rack City Low Bikes
Hi my name is Donn “King”, I run a small business where I build custom lowrider bikes for the community and also rent them out for tv/film/music production. I also do photoshoot/events with my lowrider bikes for photo ops. Networking and staying consistent is major when you’re trying to get your brand out there. I’m am proud of the people I met through this journey of growing my brand and working and collaborating with other influencers and creators that has the same vision

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Rack City started as my basketball team and I tore my ACL during my game. It Had me out for awhile during the pandemic. Couldn’t do anything but get better so part of my physical therapy was riding a bike. So I dusted off one of my lowrider bike and started riding. People like my bikes so it opened up an idea to start an IG to promote my bikes and I started Rack City Low Bikes in 2020. I done plenty of music videos tv/film with my bikes and a handful of photoshoots and much more

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
How I built my audience was to be consistent with the content and show social media what they want, we can be diverse and like the same thing. Lowrider is a Chicano culture that other cultures admire it. Los Angeles is a melting pot with different cultures. I posted content with celebrities I worked with and production I done with my bikes with some bts content that kept my followers engaged
