We recently connected with Donita Petite-Archie and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Donita thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I’ve learned to be an Executive Assistant and Influencer by aligning my desires to my goals. As an influencer, I do it all. I record videos, take pictures, edit on different software’s, and I stay organized. I went to school for Radio and TV so media has been a passion of mine for a long time. After college it was hard for me to get a job in my field. I prayed and manifested my goals. I learned how to use video and editing equipment by volunteering on the media team at church. I started my own YouTube Channel (Donita Marie) where I talk about beauty, black love, travel and fitness. I wasn’t afraid to ask for help. I did a lot of research on my own as well to help. I also wasn’t ashamed of starting from the bottom and working my way up. I ended up getting a temp position at Fox News and later transitioned to a full time position at SiriusXM | Pandora working in the marketing department. From there I networked and make connections with co-workers in the company. Not only an I an Executive Assistant, I also a digital producer for the social media department and created a space for myself to do interview with talent and fans. Being organized, and a go-getter were essential to my growth. I think everything happened in gods timing.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Donita and I am a 31 year old Executive Assistant and influencer. I have always been a media girl. I love being in front and behind the camera. I am also a model, background actor, and producer. Putting yourself out here is the only way to be seen. I make sure to do it with integrity. In the past with collaborations from companies I worked with, I do hair reviews, clothing hauls and beauty products.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
At the beginning of this year, I read the Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. My takeaways from this book are Be impeccable with your word. Don’t take anything personally. Don’t make assumptions. Always do your best.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Unfortunately with being a creative person, its not a one stop shop. Its forever growing and changing. There are things that I used to do in the past that I look back and would never do now lol. Keeping up with the trends of knowing analytics is something I forever struggle with because it is always changing. Learning analytics early on would of helped me a lot more.
