Donii, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?

i feel like people hear im a rapper and they automatically think “clubs, drugs, Jordan ones, a lot of fake flexing, and dumb ass gimmicks used for promotion” thats not me. im not them and they are not me. im a kid learning how to be a man. i’ve been through a lot of things i dont wanna talk about personally, but i know someone else out there can relate or might be looking for a reason to keep fighting. thats what im here for. i wanna keep people from feeling like dying is the only way out. i was a nerd, i was bullied. i like video games, i love anime, i grew up on Bruce Lee and Prince, shoutsout my dad. im the grandson of an immigrant and i’ve got something to say.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

my names Donii, legal name Daunte. if you can’t pronounce it, dont say it. im not Derrick, im not Davonte, im not Demitrius. if youre tapped in you know me as Lord Fish Face. i grew up in La Porte on the Southside. skated Sylvan Beach skatepark until my eyes bled. met some rad homies and tried to take control of my life. got kicked out cause it didnt align with my parental guidance’s opinions. ended up being able to couch surf @ the Caddy crib with Andy Ashley, Colt Cassidy, Dalton (owner of USVS thrift), and been skating/rapping/modeling/hustling in Houston ever since.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

generational wealth and freedom of choice. me living comfortably and passing it down. my family and other families getting to CHOOSE what college to go to.
massive donations to multiple charities, schools, underdeveloped cities/countries. building skate parks everywhere so every kid feels the same freedoms and joy i got from my skateboard.
