With no other source of income, I decided to dive headfirst into the world of hairstyling. Offering $20 wraps and $40 color services, I knew the risks were high, especially with numerous established stylists already in the area.
Despite the odds, I was determined to make a mark. I rented a small space and transformed it into a cozy, welcoming salon. The affordable prices and personalized service began to attract clients who appreciated the quality and care that I put into each style.
Word spread quickly, and the salon started to gain a loyal following. Clients loved the unique touch and dedication that I brought to their hair. The risk of starting with nothing but a dream and a passion for hairstyling turned into a thriving business, proving that with determination and hard work, anything is possible.

I had faced many challenges and made some bad decisions in life. At one point, these choices led to time in jail. However, I knew that life had more to offer and was determined to turn things around. With a background that was often held against me I turned to the one skill I knew best and that was doing hair.
From the day of release, I was dedicated themselves to building an empire for my children and I . Starting with nothing but a flat iron and a dream, I worked tirelessly to create a name in the hairstyling world. Each snip and every color application was a step towards a brighter future.
Through hard work, perseverance, and an unwavering belief in their abilities, I transformed my life. The journey from incarceration to entrepreneurship wasn’t easy, but it was a testament to my strength and determination to succeed.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients is definitely word of mouth! When your clients love what you do, they can’t help but tell their friends and family. Social media’s also a game changer—showcasing your work on platforms like Facebook , Instagram and Tik Tok can attract new clients too. Plus, building a strong online presence and engaging with your audience can really help you grow your clientele.
