Donella, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later

If I could turn back the hands of Time, I would definitely have started my business earlier. I started my business in 2010 after my second son was born. I was struggling with two kids by myself wondering, where was I going to get more income from. I decided to create a platform where local artists and businesses could market their businesses, and show their talents. I started a magazine which provided just that a platform. I do wish I would have started sooner, but I believe that everything happened the way it was supposed to because I’ve learned so much throughout these years. I’m grateful that it all worked out for the good.

Donella, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Donella Harvey. I am 40 years old with a degree in business and visual communications. I started a magazine in 2010, which transformed into a media marketing company. My discipline comes from God. I have a faith. I love being creative and trying new things. I provide marketing services to all my clients. I get eyes on their products and services, events, etc. I also give them a checklist and create a special package personalized for their business. We are affordable most marketing companies are outrageously over priced. I provide great quality work for half the price. I love all my clients and what they have going on. They are true innovators.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

I have always been very determined, although I get frustrated with challenges as most humans do. I first pray about everything then God tells me what to do. So, in learning this, I’ve learned resilience, which means to keep going. Keep fighting, never give up. Most importantly, it means to go around the obstacles. Many times I face hard trials and tribulations. Then I strategize and figure out a way to go around the obstacles. There’s never a dull moment being an entrepreneur dealing with different personalities and goals. You have to be ready for anything. Research and resourcefulness.

Any fun sales or marketing stories?

This is truly a good question because sometimes I don’t know what I’m doing. I just wing it and it all works out. So I had a meeting with a potential client and they wanted the works so they got the gold package which is the highest level of my packages. But they were uncertain about what I could deliver. So once again, I did my research found their target audience. SEO’s, and so much more. I came with all the necessary paperwork and they were impressed, but I didn’t make the sale right then they waited a day and then called me and told me they wanted to work with me. I was so ecstatic. I also had a high profile client from Atlanta, who wanted to work with me, but I never got to meet them but I still got the sell. Bitter sweet
