We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Donavan Robinson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Donavan , appreciate you joining us today. Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?

My dad has always been my hero because he has taught me a lot of life lesson that stuck with me and helped me today. When I was a kid and he would drive me to school he would tell me everyday before i got out the care to thank god for waking me up this morning. As a kid I never really understood the gravity behind that but older I get I am truly greatfull for the life that I live.

Donavan , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I started taking photos during COVID due to being bored and going through a break up. I offer photo, video, and editing services. Clients usually approach me with events or ideas they want me to shoot and help them with locations if needed. I believe what sets me apart from other photographers or creators today is my ability to connect and bring out the best in my clients. Although I do run somewhat of A business my main goal is to capture moments my clients can look back on and smile with a story to tell.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

I think there are a lot of rewarding aspects to being a creative. One being making an idea come to life. like really watching something going from a silly conversation with friends and it coming to the very day your working on that idea. Another one is connecting with people about a topic or subject. Lastly having the ability to inspire people.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

I call it “getting your steps in”. I study instagram for upcoming events. I pay attention to the month i’m in. I check out the weather and see what the vibe is like. I do all of this to see what’s happening in the streets and then I go get my steps in. As long as i’m going out and taking photos networking and picking up new clients come in a very genuine way.
