We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Domonique Mills. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Domonique below.
Hi Domonique, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The Faith Over Logic brand was originally just a motto or message for myself. I’m a very detail-oriented and logical person. I have a strong desire for things to make sense, but I also have very strong faith in God. One day I was thinking and reflecting and got this reminder from God that my faith in Him must outweigh my need for things to make sense because “it won’t always make sense”. So, I got it as a tattoo and I thought that would be it. But then, I kept thinking about it and felt like maybe it wasn’t just for me. Maybe this message could help all the other overthinkers and logic seekers out there who need the reminder and reassurance that things won’t always make sense according to our logic and that’s okay. I wanted a relatable way to start sharing the message and encouraging others so I started using the hashtag #faithoverlogic on social media. Next came the apparel line and website. The apparel creates a wearable reminder and a way for others to spread the message even further. The website is the one-stop shop for all things “Faith Over Logic” including blogs, videos, and of course apparel. So, here we are. From a tattoo to a hashtag to a full apparel line and growing online platform.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I was born and raised in North Carolina. I am the owner and creator of Faith Over Logic, a faith-based brand and apparel line that serves as a source of inspiration and a constant reminder that our faith in God must outweigh our need for things to make sense according to our own logic.
Outside of Faith Over Logic and my day job (in the web development field), I Co-Host a podcast with my best friend called “Hey Fave! The podcast” and I’m a content creator/social media manager. I absolutely love my family and friends and all things food, fun, and travel.

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
I sell on my website and I use a printing/drop shipping platform for fulfillment and shipping. I wanted something to make the process as easy as possible.
Pros: I can offer unlimited options without having to store a bunch of inventory on hand. I didn’t have to buy equipment to fulfill orders myself. And I don’t have to manually handle the printing, packing, and shipping process.
Con: I have no real control over product availability for certain items or fulfillment and shipping times.
I am currently considering exploring my options with Etsy and maybe Amazon to broaden my reach.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I run a few different social media accounts and I’m still working to grow my audience. Especially for my business. But here are some lessons I’ve learned so far:
Stay true to yourself and your brand
– trends are cool but make sure you’re posting in alignment with your brand, your core beliefs, and what your audience wants
Remember why you started and why you do what you do
– don’t lose sight of your message or the overall goal
– yes, growth and engagement is the goal, but don’t let “likes” be the sole decider and motivation behind what you post
Don’t be afraid to adapt and pivot
-social media is always evolving. You have to be willing to do the same
Don’t wait on perfection to start posting
Be consistent, but don’t let social media consume or overwhelm you
– it’s okay to take a break
Outsource and delegate when necessary if possible
