We recently connected with Dommique Diamond and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dommique thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
When it comes world of modeling and just being a creator in general I would say that I’m a bit misunderstood or they just misunderstand how I move in the industry. The way I move or the way I created content had people question do I do modeling for fun or do I take it seriously due to route I’ve taken and even limiting how much content I’ve put out. But there are also a time where I let the opinions and the questions of others get to me and bother me. There are so many times where I felt so misunderstood and so out of place, to where I was questioning myself on whether or not, I wanted to continue the journey, and thankfully with this hiatus I have learned that you can’t let the opinions of others or even questions get to you and also I’ve learned to stay out of my own way. There are so many beautiful ideas that I have created and I can’t wait for them to come to life.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For those who don’t I am a model from Detroit and I’ve been doing for about 3 years now and I couldn’t be more proud of myself! The thing that I’m most proud of is that I’ve done everything on my own from funding my own shoots to getting the opportunities I’ve gotten so far by myself without being on signed to a agency or anything like that.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I will keep it short and simple the goal is to ALWAYS out pace yourself and to be better than what you were previously. You’re one, and only competitor will always beat you and you will always go wrong when you think it’s somebody else that you’re competing against.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
The best thing society can do is give everyone a platform to shine and show everyone love on their journey because we all are trying to make it someway and somehow and we should just stick together so everyone can win.
