Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dominique Silva. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dominique, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
I can overall say that I am very happy as a creative. It definitely has its ups and down but I am extremely grateful to be on this journey and seeing where it takes me. I do sometimes think about what life would be like with a regular job and the stability that comes with it but I know that my passion for art wouldn’t keep me in that space for too long.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For those that don’t know me I am a full-time artist/creative. I sell artwork of my own as well as create artwork for clients. I provide visuals, logos, and photos for companies and people who have trouble or lack the time to put these things together on their own. My artist name “Paperbag” comes from my theme of painting paper bags over peoples faces. I try to tell stories and bring awareness to different issues in my community and around the world through my art. I am most proud of the fact that my art can have a deeper meaning and when people purchase my works they can remember these things throughout their lifetime.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Throughout my life I’ve lived in 6 different states and gone to over 14 different schools. Starting over has been a common theme throughout my life. Starting over in various different settings has brought so much perspective to my life. I don’t believe I would even be an artist right now if it wasn’t for learning the power in continuing to push through and making things work no matter what.
: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to continue to spread light on so many different people and situations in this world the best way I know how, which is through my art. I feel like we all should be contributing to society in whatever fashion we know how to and art is my outlet.
