We were lucky to catch up with Dominique Ransom recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dominique thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with talking about how you serve the underserved, because in our view this is one of the most important things the small business community does for society – by serving those who the giant corporations ignore, small business helps create a more inclusive and just world for all of us.
I definitely would say this is a huge thing a part of my business. Being in this tattoo industry I’ve seen a lot of homophobia, womanizing, at times some super racial opinions.
and this just brings me back to one of my biggest sayings! -that everybody deserves to get a tattoo. Regardless if you’re old if you’re younger, you’re gay, you’re straight, you don’t identify as anything, or you’re just the most weirdest human in this earth , I could care less if you’re blue, an alien or your red!
if you want a piece of art you definitely should have that right to put that on your body, and not let anybody with their opinions get in the way of that.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Lilac Tattoo Studio, we specialize in doing piercing and tattoos!
we are a SUPER LBGTQ plus friendly tattoo studio,
and we also are An only female studio, which means that only women work for me but we do service everyone!

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I genuinely believe me keeping true to who I am, and what I believe has built the reputation of my tattoo shop within the market.
i’m very big on what I believe, and I specially am very nitpicky about how service should be especially , since I do have such a long background of working in normal jobs .
it was really important when I came in to tattooing that the customer service standpoint still stays the same as if you were getting serviced anywhere else.
and I definitely don’t think I try to conform to what society necessarily is wanting at the time, and I just try to keep it as genuine and humble as I possibly can!

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
I definitely think that we are picking up and getting new clients by doing all of the trending TikTok things on social media.
and I’m also really big into partnering with any small business or any business overall that would like to do a collaboration with Lilac.
If I do feel like it does suit our clients needs, or potential clients I definitely try to do anything!
