Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dominique Paredes. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Dominique thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Breaking the Silence
For as long as I could remember, social situations felt like climbing a steep mountain with no end in sight. Even the thought of speaking up in a room full of people made my chest tighten and my heart race. Social anxiety wasn’t just a part of my life—it felt like a barrier that defined it. So, when the idea of starting on social media first crossed my mind, it seemed like an impossible dream. How could someone who could barely talk to strangers in person put themselves out there for the world to see?
But deep down, I knew I had something to share. My passion for science, nutrition, and helping others burned brighter than the fear that held me back. It wasn’t just an idea; it was a calling. Still, taking that first step felt like leaping into the unknown, risking not only judgment from others but also my fragile mental health.
One day, I decided I couldn’t let fear win. I posted my first video. It wasn’t perfect—my voice wavered, my hands shook, and I worried endlessly about how people would react. But to my surprise, the feedback wasn’t what I feared. People resonated with my message. They appreciated the knowledge I shared and the authenticity I brought. Slowly, my confidence grew.
Social media became more than just a platform; it became a mirror showing me that I could overcome my limitations. I learned to channel my nervous energy into creating, to focus on the message rather than the fear. Each post felt like a small victory, each comment a reminder that I was capable of reaching people, even from behind a screen.
What I feared might harm my mental health actually became a source of healing. The passion I poured into my content became a powerful force, proving to me that anxiety didn’t define me—it was simply a challenge to overcome.
Today, I look back and realize that taking that risk wasn’t just about social media. It was about proving to myself that anything is possible when you do it with intention, passion, and authenticity. Fear may have been my companion, but it didn’t dictate my path. What started as a risk turned into a journey of self-discovery and growth, one post at a time.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Dominique Paredes, I am 25 years old, and I am a clinical nutritionist by profession. I chose my career because I have always had a vocation for helping others and teaching those who cannot afford a medical consultation. For this reason, I created my project, Nutscience, which aims to provide free education.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
During my career, I have had the fortune—but also the sadness—of encountering cases involving people with limited resources. When we come from privileges such as having access to education, we often forget about those who cannot access quality education and take for granted everything we LEARN. During my community work, I met many people who neglected their health because they didn’t know how to take care of it, and out of fear of rejection, they avoided seeking help, worried they might be discriminated against for not knowing how to read or write.
That’s when I learned the importance of understanding that not everyone has the same privileges and that there is nothing more rewarding than planting seeds of kindness and empathy. And of course, I also realized there is nothing more important than humility and the ability to adapt to any situation.

Can you open up about how you managed the initial funding?
This year, I started my business, Let’s Upgrade LLC, a company dedicated to teaching entrepreneurs how to improve their businesses through digital media. I did this because there are so many things I wish I had known when I first started in the world of social media, and I believe everyone should have the opportunity to pursue entrepreneurship. For me, knowledge is something that should be shared with others.
Starting a business requires time and money, but above all, organization. I was able to launch my company through careful planning and organization.
