We were lucky to catch up with Dominique Noelle recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dominique, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
In this industry you never stop learning. From the evolution of products and application techniques, whenever you feel you have mastered your art there is always more to learn. The way I keep updated is by looking to the past, imagining the future and supporting the beauty creatives of the present.
My favorite beauty eras are the 1950s and 70s. I love to look at magazines and advertisements from that time to see how they used color and shapes to innovate how we perceive beauty. To keep current , I follow new beauty creatives on social media and keep up to date with new beauty companies and products coming to market.
To imagine the future, I love to discuss fashion trends with designers and watch/read sci-fi movies and comics.
Dominique, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Makeup Artist that specialises in Fashion, Beauty, Runway and Film. What sets me so apart from others is that I truly believe everyone is already beautiful. My art is to allow the individuals that sit in my chair to believe that they are more than enough by using makeup as my medium.
Getting to where I am now professionally was not easy however it became so once I accepted that rejection was part of the process. That there are no negative experiences and that there is a lesson in every triumph and setback.
I want the world to know that I as an artist and Creative Director see that there is not one standard of beauty. That BEAUTY is a rainbow that everyone can be apart of.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I am blessed and eternally grateful to be a mother of three incredible children. My most important goal in my life is to show my children that anything is possible. You can truly achieve anything you put your mind to as long as you stay positive, be in a state gratitude and remember everything works out for your greatest good.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I was exposed to the power and importance of mindset and self-concept earlier in my career. Everything starts with how we view ourselves. If we don’t believe we are great, how can anyone else?
