We recently connected with Dominique Nash and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dominique, thanks for joining us today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
Becoming a Digital Creator and getting paid for the content I create has been an awesome journey so far. I can honestly say I am happy with this line of work over having a regular 9 to 5 job, mainly because I get to stay home and be available for my family and still earn my paycheck. I am constantly reevaluating my job especially because as a Digital Content Creator I am the will of people supporting my content by viewing it, engaging on it and sharing it in order for me to earn money. I am also a wife and mother so any job I take I have to consider how this would affect my family, which is always the focus. Being a Digital Content Creator provides the flexibility and freedom I need and is a sweet job to have, might I add. I would pick this over a regular 9 to 5 any day, mainly because of the joy I have from working. If it doesn’t make you happy or want to go to work, why do it.. that is my motto.
Dominique, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I initially ventured in the field of content creation when I started our family YouTube Channel called Welcome to The Nash House back in 2020 and published content on every platform to build brand awareness. Our content was strictly food based at that moment and family fun content because that was the medium I was comfortable with. In December of 2020, I was hire by Meta (Facebook) as a Digital Creator and got paid for the content I create, and I am continuing to this present day. From this opportunity, I have been able to create a gaming experience for our family called The Nash House for Gaming and provide gaming content for my children to share and earn income for our family. It has been a great way to expand our business and earn partnerships with different companies as influencer, and still looking to build from here. I also offer services to help other people become Digital Creator’s and start earning money for their content as a content coach and share the things I have learned so far to help others get monetized, so if you need assistance I can be your content coach!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an creative, also known as a Digital Creator, is being able to work at my own leisure and continue to focus on my family. I am a mother and wife so becoming a Digital Creator and getting paid for my content is amazing!!
Have you ever had to pivot?
When I began this journey in becoming a Digital Creator, my only focus at the time was building my brand awareness and trying to be seen on as many social media sites as possible. My brand, Welcome to The Nash House had to be everywhere, in my opinion, so that’s what I did! Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Twitter, YouTube, and Tiktok were my daily routines building from the ground up. Everything picked up quickly especially because it was food videos but I knew I had to shift gears for my health. Creating food content is a hot ticket and trying to keep up with the generating content had my family and I overweight and I just wasn’t happy with sharingbfood anymore but my followers only knew of me from my recipes. I took a huge risk and switched gears into showcasing outdoor adventure, family fun, dance videos, etc. I tried everything but doing everything was NOT building my following or helping me reach my goals so, I had to sit down, figure out my niche again. (A niche is what you focus on all the time in your content and make it relatable to trends.) I couldn’t figure it without testing it first so I picked three topic that I notices were popular through my Insights. I created content around all three and 2 of the niches worked the best so now I have two New ways to build a Community. The two niches are Comedy skits from old TV shows, so technically I am acting. The other niche is content coach. I create both types of content to entertain my following and also show them how to become a Digital Content Creator and get paid for the content they create like me. Glad I shifted gears in my career as a Digital Creator because so far, I am the healthiest I have ever been! When I stopped creating food content, we went on a Fitness Challenge and lost over 100 lbs and from time to time we share our workout routines. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a Digital Creator but pivoting the direction was essential for my growth and life.
