We recently connected with Dominique Moses and have shared our conversation below.
Dominique , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
Fit Fighters is a client-centric fitness brand that prioritizes its clients’ needs over self-promotion, distinguishing itself from the trend of trainers focusing more on their own image on social media. The brand’s primary focus is on helping clients achieve their fitness goals, setting it apart in the fitness industry.
Everything we post on social media it’s more about our clients! We want to show them off to everyone so it’ll give potential clients or so who lack confidence and drive to wanna go workout whether it’s with us or another facility

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I was working as a contracted operations manager for a well known logistics company. My contract ended and I decided to branch off and start a Boxing Fitness gym with my former co-owner Jose Perez. We took a leap of faith on a business that was needed in the city of Valdosta.
Starting a gym is one thing, you have to compete with all of the other big time gyms around town. But starting a boxing fitness gym which was different and wasn’t yet introduced to the area was another. But that was what we wanted to set us apart from everyone else. You have to be different when bring something as familiar as another gym into town, that was something we knew would set us apart. Boxing with an added Hitt workout mixed together.
It was going to be an easy feat trying to get people to buy in to boxing because the first thing that came to people mind was “ Am I going to get Hit”
and that was the challenge to getting People to buy in. So marketing was the biggest challenge along with long unusual hours. It were times where I would sleep in the lobby because of the late nights of trying to get organized.
While running a business I also had to work on my boxing to become a better trainer… I had the background from a family member, but I needed to able to break it down for my clients, meaning teaching them proper form as well as making sure they were getting a great workout as well.
We offer:
Boxing Fitness Training,
Amateur Boxing Training for those that want to compete in the ring.
Sports Training for all sports such as speed, agility, calisthenics.
Technique for specific playing positions
Self Defense
1on1 Training
Bring creative is one of the most important things to me because it sets me apart from other gyms and trainers. You have to be able to keep your client motivated, meaning you have to find what drives them. You have to be consistent as much as possible, study your craft day in and day out, you can’t have your client getting use to the same workout. “ The quickest way to lose your position is to be one dimensional”
When I’m teaching boxing classes I’m treating them like an actual boxer who’s conditioning and training for a fight. I want them to get the same experience as one would that’s actually fighting. That means punching the heavy bag or punching mitts that I’m holding up while calling out the combinations.
I’m proud of my journey over the past 12 years, the struggle, the lessons learn, the growth. I’m trained and met so many people from all over the world and it’s been such a blessing. Happiness is an inside job and I’m thankful for every client!
When you train with Dom you’re gonna get consistency, I’m gonna give you all I got as trainer. When you step into my gym it’s about you and how can I make you better. I may not be a house hold name via social media but my resume speaks for it self!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Being creative and consistent. When I’m sports training I want to focus on real life situations that you’ll face when playing you specific sport. I want your input meaning I want to work together and not me giving orders. I need to know what you see when you’re in action, that way we can implement a training plan that maps out exactly what we’re working on and how it translate to your performance.
As a Fitness trainer I want to know your goals and what motivates you. What specifically do you want to work rather than me automatically putting something together that you’re not going to cling on to or something you may not be able to do yet. Some trainers have a reputation of doing outrageous workouts and posting them to seek attention rather then help you reach your goal.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Word of mouth was the biggest advantage for me 10 years ago. Social media wasn’t as big then, so if one client came in we’d give an incentive to share there experience.
Now social media is the biggest advantage you can have wen building a brand or business. Everything you need is one touch of a button.
