We were lucky to catch up with Dominique McGee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dominique , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I am coming from a colorful background that holds a great tale of triumph. I have come from many forms of artistry, acting and more but my passion was in my performance since as long as, I can remember. The chances to win a few star searches throughout my life putting it all on the line taking risk showed me I had what it took. I have spent time in many states perfecting my craft through many obstacles, but in 2018 I would move to Houston Texas and join the vast growing industry in film and fashion. Taken part in many independent projects , stage work and background work for a major network. The opportunity to spread my wings presented it’s self and I took off. As I took off I looked at what else I could over and it was becoming a community leader teaching others to pick up the pieces to a better future, not to give up on their selves My pain found purpose . I joined the anti human trafficking movement and used my voice as a survivor leader, using my own personal obstacles to uplift others,. Even though I didn’t have much support or a village to assist me in my mission I never gave up and will not ever give up. I love this because I can follow my dreams as well as stand in my purpose and aid others in their betterment. I a. the founder of nonprofit organization “Breakin Khainz ” which we aid survivors of abuse and traumas, at-risk youths and young adults into picking up the pieces to a better life. As well as a business consultant, life coaching company ” Visionary Pathfinders for the personal and professional development of those in underprivileged communities. We keep the dream burning in many of our youth and young adults. The more I rise in my craft the more I give back to others.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Dominique McGee: Overcoming Adversity to Achieve Success
Dominique McGee I am a woman of true grit and determination. Born and raised in the rough streets of Atlantic City, I faced numerous challenges in my early years. However, despite these obstacles, I never let go of my dreams of becoming a successful model and actress. Always believing that with hard work and perseverance, I could achieve anything I set mind to.
Growing up, I faced many hardships. I experienced poverty, violence, and a lack of opportunities. These challenges meant that pursuing my dreams would be difficult. However, I was not the one to give up easily. Knowing I wanted to achieve success, I had to take risks and be willing to work hard.
Throughout my life, I have faced many setbacks and stumbling blocks. However, I could never let them deter me from my goals. Instead, I has used them as fuel to push myself even harder. I had to learned that failures and mistakes are just opportunities to learn and grow.
Despite my struggles, my optimistic spirit has remained intact. I always believed that anything is possible if you work hard enough. My relentless pursuit of my dreams will paid off, as I now grow as a successful model, actress and business owner.
Today, love that I am a role model for young girls everywhere. Proving that with hard work, determination, and a positive attitude, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. My story is one of perseverance and courage, and it is an inspiration for everyone.
In conclusion, As a true leader and inspiration for many. I will continue to teach others that no matter the challenges we face, we have the power to overcome them. My story is a testament to the fact that with hard work, determination, and a positive attitude, anything is possible.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I had to unlearn along the way,is this very fact that anything in my past could not keep me from achieving my greatest success in my future. I am in control and it is and will always be up to me how far I go. I had to teach myself to be more dedicated to my I cans then the what happened or the I can’t(s) in my life. What we tell ourselves matters so we must remember to tell ourselves a clear vision and have the confidence in ourselves to achieve whatever we set out to do.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I will give you a short story. Well my personal life was very tuff, I had almost lost a son to gun violence, and lost everything at the same time, my family and I had to go in the shelter, I had a choice here give up or push myself, well I kept doing work within my community and no one knew I was in a shelter but while I was there ,I taken the steps to advance in my path, I went to school in the shelter and I was casted to be a lead in an independent short film, I worked in my community and on set and on my own personal situations all at the same time. When I left 10 months I moved into a hotel temporarily and was casted again to do background work for an MTV movie, which would be the second time I got casted, they didn’t say who would be in the movie what was going to take place but I was to be there and despite everything thing I was there . I was casted in fashion shows, and speaking engagements and so much more at my worse. My son survived the gun shot wound and I survived the many battles that were designed to stop me giving ,e the courage to keep fighting for a better future for all.
