Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dominique Humphries. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dominique , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’ve always had a deep love for flowers—their beauty, the emotions they evoke, and the way they can transform an ordinary moment into something special. For as long as I can remember, receiving flowers has always made me feel seen, appreciated, and loved. It was more than just the gift itself; it was the thought and meaning behind it. That feeling of happiness stuck with me, and I wanted to find a way to share it with others.
The idea for my floral business started as a simple thought: What if I could create something beautiful that made people feel the way I felt when I received flowers? At first, it was just an outlet for my creativity—I loved designing arrangements, playing with colors and textures, and bringing different floral visions to life. But the more I experimented, the more I realized that this was more than just a hobby.
What truly made me believe this was a worthwhile endeavor was seeing the emotional impact my arrangements had on people. The way someone’s face would light up when they received a bouquet, the tears of joy at a wedding or a special event, even the quiet comfort flowers could bring in difficult times—it all reinforced that this was something meaningful.
I also saw a gap in the market that I knew I could fill. While there were plenty of florists out there, I wanted to bring a more personal touch to floral design—something unique, custom, and deeply intentional. It wasn’t just about selling flowers; it was about creating an experience, about curating something that felt special and personal for each client.
What excited me most about this idea was the opportunity to blend artistry with emotion—to take a person’s story, their feelings, their vision, and translate it into something tangible. Flowers are universal in the way they communicate love, joy, and remembrance, and I wanted to be a part of that.
Starting this business wasn’t just about making a living; it was about doing something that genuinely brought happiness to others. And that, to me, was the biggest sign that I was on the right path.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi, I’m Dominique Humphries! I wear a lot of hats—I’m a flight attendant, a veterinary assistant, and now, a floral business owner. My journey into flowers wasn’t something I planned; it was something that naturally grew from my love for them. Every time I received flowers, it instantly lifted my mood, and I realized how powerful something so simple could be.
I’ve always been a creative person, and floral arranging became a way for me to express that creativity while also bringing joy to others. What started as a hobby quickly turned into something more when I realized people loved my work and wanted their own custom bouquets. That’s when I decided to turn my passion into a business.
What I Offer
Right now, I focus on creating beautiful, vibrant bouquets that bring happiness to any space. Whether it’s a gift for a loved one, a treat for yourself, or just a way to brighten up a room, my goal is to make flowers feel special and personal.
Each bouquet I make is one-of-a-kind, carefully designed with fresh, colorful flowers that complement each other perfectly. I put thought into every arrangement so that it feels unique and full of life. I also take custom requests for those who want something extra personal!
What Makes My Work Special
What sets my bouquets apart is the love and creativity that goes into them. I don’t just throw flowers together—I take the time to make sure every bouquet is eye-catching, full of color, and thoughtfully arranged. I want my flowers to bring happiness, just like they always have for me.
I also balance this business with my other passions—traveling the world as a flight attendant and caring for animals as a veterinary assistant. Those experiences have shaped how I see beauty in the world, and I try to bring that same sense of wonder and care into every arrangement I create.
What I Want People to Know
At the end of the day, my floral business is about spreading joy. Flowers have the power to brighten someone’s day, and I love being able to create something that makes people smile. If you’re looking for a bouquet that’s full of life and color, I’d love to make something special for you!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started growing my audience by simply sharing my love for flowers. At first, it was just friends and family supporting me, but as I kept posting vibrant bouquets, behind-the-scenes clips, and my journey as a florist, flight attendant, and vet assistant, more people started engaging.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The biggest game-changer for me has been word of mouth and social media. When I first started, my first few orders came from friends and family, but what really helped me grow was making sure each bouquet felt special. When people love what they receive, they naturally tell others about it.
