We were lucky to catch up with Dominique Harness recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dominique , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
I officially started Business Redeemed in 2020. I had my first graduation for my clients August 2020. It was a beautiful event in the heart of Park Forest, IL. I welcomed business owners to come share their businesses with the village on stage outside in the middle of downtown. They were able to sell their products and support each other while I was launching the grand opening of The D.Vine Boutique (my first brick and mortar). Business Redeemed has been my most successful business and was literally hand delivered to me in a dream from God. I open enrollment when he tells me and I close it when he tells me. I have charged anywhere from $25-$800 for classes. I have never not had a sold out class. With that being said I know I started at the perfect time because it was God’s Timing. I continue to stay in prayer about my business, Business Redeemed and I am confident that as long as I continue to build with God it will forever be the right time.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Dominique Harness. I am an author and serial entrepreneur with one essential goal of pushing Christian women in business into purpose.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of my favorites is the time my dad passed away. I was heartbroken. I stopped working and honestly was fighting my way through depression and post partum. As a sole entrepreneur quitting is not an option because bills are still coming. My accounts were depleted but I was working on my first conference. I knew my dad wouldn’t want me to quit because he passed so I kept going. It resulted in a $0.16 conference. A story of faith and pushing through https://thelansingjournal.com/2022/01/02/local-businesswoman-hosts-conference-for-female-entrepreneurs-on-0-16-budget/?fbclid=IwAR3zcItLmMd1ymqCSv6HTEEyXhow4_2NXBx1iKK2SrVwTJYrYfgItfKjTQY_aem_ATtWoDTIMequTZOIfg7q2rPHcReTO-sFl7XcFYW5L9LymG69azltXdYQ7vDckRUgjeo
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
After the $0.16 conference I learned that faith the size of a mustard seed was all I would ever need on my entrepreneurial journey.
