We recently connected with Dominique & Dj Coe and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dominique & Dj thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you recount a time when the advice you provided to a client was really spot on? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
The best advice we give every client when they walk through our doors is simple but powerful: define your why before you chase your results. Most people come in focused on weight loss, muscle gain, or a number on the scale. Those goals matter, but we have learned that motivation fades quickly if it is tied only to appearance. As coaches at BodyGames, we slow the process down and ask a deeper question. Why does this goal matter to you?
We have seen this shift change everything. One client came in exhausted and simply wanted to lose weight. When we dug deeper, the real reason surfaced. They wanted energy at the end of the day. They wanted to keep up with their kids. They wanted to feel confident leading in their career instead of drained by midafternoon. Once that deeper why was identified, the journey became about more than pounds.
We encourage every client to write that reason down. We call it YOU vs YOU, a commitment to becoming stronger than yesterday’s version of yourself. When tough weeks come, and they always do, that written why overrides motivation and builds discipline and conviction. The result is not just physical transformation, though that often follows. The real result is consistency. It is someone who stops quitting on themselves and starts building a lifestyle rooted in purpose.
At BodyGames, we do not just train bodies. We help people anchor their fitness to meaning. When your why is clear, discipline follows, and the results become a natural byproduct of showing up.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
BodyGames was born in the middle of uncertainty. We opened during the pandemic as first time business owners who saw a growing need in our community. Families were overwhelmed, routines were disrupted, and health was either being neglected or approached from extremes. We believed there was space for something different. Not just a gym, but a place where busy parents and professionals could rebuild strength, structure, and confidence in a supportive environment. Opening during that season forced us to pivot constantly, learn quickly, and lead with resilience. It shaped our culture into one built on adaptability, grit, and service.
Today, BodyGames blends strength training, conditioning, hot yoga, Pilates, and nutrition coaching into a holistic model designed for real life. We focus on helping people define their why, build discipline over motivation, and choose consistency over perfection. We solve the problem of starting and stopping by creating systems, accountability, and community that make health sustainable. What sets us apart is our YOU vs YOU philosophy. We are not about comparison. We are about ownership, progress, and becoming better than yesterday in ways that carry into your home, career, and relationships.
What we are most proud of is the culture.
BodyGames has become more than a workout space. It is a community hub where parents train while their kids watch and learn, friendships are formed, and people rediscover belief in themselves. We opened in one of the most uncertain times in recent history and grew because people were not just looking for fitness. They were looking for connection, leadership, and a place to belong. That is what we built, and that is what we continue to protect and grow every day.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Other than training and technical knowledge, the most important factor in succeeding in this field is truly caring about people. Not transactionally, but personally. Fitness can easily become numbers, memberships, and programming, but real impact happens when clients feel seen beyond the workout. We believe in leading with agape love, a selfless commitment to serving people well. That means knowing our members by name, understanding their families, their stressors, their goals, and even what kind of week they are having before class starts.
What has helped us grow is going beyond what is expected. We aim to create what many call a third place, a space outside of home and work where people feel they belong. When someone walks into BodyGames, they are not just another client. They are part of a community. That sense of belonging builds trust, and trust builds consistency. In an industry filled with programs and promises, genuine care is what sustains relationships and keeps people showing up long after motivation fades.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the clearest examples of resilience in our journey came between July 2022 and December 2022, when we operated BodyGames without a physical location while relocating. What was expected to be a smoother transition turned into months of construction delays and constant uncertainty. We trained outdoors through the peak North Carolina summer heat and into the early winter cold. When the weather was unpredictable, the incredible Braggtown Baptist Church opened its doors so we could continue serving our community. Every week required pivots, equipment hauling, schedule adjustments, and a level of mental toughness we had never experienced before.
What carried us through was our faith and our people. We knew this mission was bigger than a building. It was about serving families and creating a space where people could grow stronger together. Our members showed up in parks, in parking lots, and in borrowed spaces because they believed in what we were building. That season proved that BodyGames was never just about four walls. It was about resilience, consistency, and a community committed to the vision even when conditions were uncomfortable.
