We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dominik Cartrel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dominik below.
Dominik, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
In order to be successful you must be able to take risk. Be consistent. Be innovative. Also learn the difference in purpose and passion. Over the years of working for corporations I learned things that I embraced in my own business which lead me to be successful.
Dominik, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Dominik Cartrel. I worked in restaurants for for 16 years. Buffet Dining, casual dining and fine dining. I learned from my mom the basics to cooking and friom there i embraced my love for food. The art of a plate is simply by taste, not image. Anyone can make a plate look good but can you make a simple product taste extravagant. My mission has always been eat with your eyes smile from your tastebuds. What sets me aside from other restaurants I don’t believe in short cuts. If your plate takes 30 mins to cook. It will be worth your time. Everything must be fresh!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I had to revise my plan after covid. Instead of having a venue / restaurant I had to pick a side. Covid made me loose my business and brick and mortar so four months later I reopened a smaller concept. Strictly focused on casual dining.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I exhausted my 401 k and savings totaling $450k and i put it all on the table. I refused to continue to work for other people. I financed myself because no one else was gonna give me the money i needed.
