We recently connected with Dominic Moore and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dominic, thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Being so in love with my craft and making music in 2018 I quit my job to pursue music full time. This decision came with a lot of struggle and hardship but ultimately I regret nothing and wish I did it sooner.
Dominic, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started as a rapper but became a music producer after a friend’s beats fell short. Determined, I learned the craft and now offer a unique service. I pride myself on creativity, not always following trends. I’ve influenced and inspired others, but my style can’t be replicated. From chopping samples to visuals, my brand is entirely my own, influenced solely by me.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When my grandmother passed I became very introverted and depressed. In response to this I spent a lot of time home on the internet, specifically YouTube. I became very visible in comment sections: not spamming or trolling, just being myself. My comments became so popular they were reacted to by the likes of rapper Dej Loaf, Hot Ones host Sean Evans, Jinx from Revolt and more. This gave me a lot of attention that moved over to my beats. Negative and positive. My advice would be to make yourself visible but don’t force it, be yourself, do it your way.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist for me is having an idea and building it piece by piece from scratch, whether that’s clothing, music, visuals, etc. Making something from nothing gives me a certain sense of accomplishment nothing else could.
