Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dominic Kawaja. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Dominic, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Taking a leap of faith, I left behind the comfort and predictability of editorial photography to build CURB360 from the ground up. It was a major risk-shifting industries, starting with no clients, and investing everything into a vision I believed in. But I saw an opportunity to raise the bar in real estate media, and I committed fully. That risk became the foundation for a company that’s now thriving and expanding nationally.

Dominic, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Dominic Kawaja, and I’m the founder and CEO of CURB360, a real estate media company built on the belief that visuals have the power to transform how properties are experienced and marketed. Before launching CURB360, I spent over a decade immersed in the fashion and celebrity editorial photography world, working in cities like Los Angeles, New York, and Milan. That experience sharpened my creative eye and taught me how to capture emotion, style, and storytelling through images.
In 2013, I moved to San Diego for a lifestyle reset. It was there I saw an opportunity: real estate visuals were falling short, and there was a major gap in consistency, creativity, and speed. So in 2014, I took a risk and launched CURB360. We started with just a camera and a vision, and over the years, we’ve evolved into a full-scale media company offering HD photography, aerial drone, 3D Matterport, virtual staging, property videos, and fully branded websites, all delivered through our proprietary booking system and internal tech stack. We serve agents, brokers, builders, and property managers in markets like San Diego, Houston, Nashville, San Antonio, Tampa, and more.
What sets us apart is our obsession with quality and operational excellence. We’ve built systems that allow for fast turnaround without compromising creativity. Our team is trained to deliver consistent, brand-aligned results across every market we serve. We’re not just a photo company, we’re a visual partner helping real estate professionals stand out in a crowded, competitive space.
What I’m most proud of is how far we’ve come by staying true to the craft while innovating our processes. We didn’t chase trends, we built a brand with intention. Whether it’s a $300K condo or a $10M estate, every property we shoot gets the same level of care, creativity, and polish.
For anyone just discovering CURB360, I want them to know this: we’re here to elevate your listings, streamline your workflow, and deliver media you’re proud to present. We’re artists at heart, operators by design, and deeply committed to helping you win in your market.
Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots in my life was realizing that being a talented creative wasn’t enough, I had to become a builder, a leader, and a visionary if I wanted CURB360 to grow beyond just me. In the early days, I was doing everything from shooting, editing, scheduling, client calls, the whole thing. But as a small operation, I quickly learned the hard truth: if I got sick, needed rest, or simply stepped away for a day, everything stopped and so did the income.
That pressure forced a mindset shift. I didn’t just want to survive—I wanted to build something sustainable. I realized that meant building systems, developing processes, and most importantly, surrounding myself with great people. Every area of the business which included production, operations, customer service, tech needed structure and talent beyond me. So I started building. Slowly, deliberately, and with the goal of creating a company that could thrive with or without me in the room.
It wasn’t easy. Building a business from scratch while also running it requires sacrifice on every level-time, money, energy, relationships. But over time, those hard decisions began to pay off. Now, CURB360 is a real team, with a real infrastructure, serving multiple markets with consistency and creativity. That pivot from solo creator to business leader wasn’t just about growth. It was about taking my life back while building something far bigger than I could have done alone.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
There was a point in the early days of CURB360 where everything felt like it was stacked against me. I had just taken the leap into building this business full-time, and the pressure was intense with no outside funding, no backup plan, just me trying to turn an idea into something real. I remember one week in particular: I was sick, overworked, running on fumes, and still out shooting properties, editing until 2AM, and answering client calls like everything was fine.
That week, two jobs canceled, a major client delayed payment, and my gear needed unexpected repairs, all while trying to make payroll. I could’ve folded. A lot of people told me to slow down, maybe scale back or play it safe. But something in me knew this was just a test. So I doubled down. I kept showing up, kept delivering, and kept believing in the vision, even when it felt impossible.
Resilience, for me, has never been about pretending things are easy. It’s about doing the hard things anyway. That moment didn’t break me, it clarified my purpose. And it’s a big reason why CURB360 is still here and growing today. I built this company brick by brick, with the mindset that setbacks aren’t the end, they’re part of the process.
