We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dominic Goodie. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dominic below.
Dominic, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I do wish I started my film career sooner than I did. This would have allowed myself the time to work on my craft and gain the experience I need to better my work. Even though the level I’m at now is great compared to when I started, if I had started younger the mistakes I make now would have already passed. the lessons would have already been learned and my portfolio would be a lot larger than it is.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
After completing my military service, I attended film school, writing, directing, and producing student films as well as gaining experience with the camera. I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Film Production and Master’s in Creative Writing. I then moved to Georgia, an ever-growing hub for the film industry. Where I was able to get several different jobs working on film sets, from smaller to large films, networking and working alongside great names in the film industry.
I started my film production company, Pure Luxury Films in 2016, while still in film school. I’ve written, directed, and produced a number of short films, commercials, music videos, and feature films. My true passion lies in the director’s chair where I can shape the overall creation and vision of the film.
I have a deep love for the action, crime, and thriller genres and take a lot of my inspirations from great film directors like Richard Donner, Zack Snyder, Kevin Smith, and Robert Rodriguez. The films that got me so interested in the industry came from these directors. Lethal Weapon, Desperado, Clerks, and Sucker Punch are all films that have sparked my creative side. Cinema has shaped my life and has given me a goal. And that is to bring my ideas and creativity to as many people as I can, bringing along friends and other creatives to build an amazing team.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being creative, specifically a film director, is the joy of seeing so many people come together to help you achieve your vision. It takes a lot to complete a short film and even more for a feature film. I love how a film set can bring together so many people and other creatives. The drive and ambition of everyone on the set can really motivate you to push yourself and be the best in what you bring. Also when finishing a short film or feature for me, I love seeing my work finalized and available for everyone to see. Just being able to create something that others can enjoy is amazing. Something that came from your mind and is now available for everyone is just one of the greatest feelings.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Being a director and being in the film industry, the biggest thing I can say that society can do to support artists and creatives is to go to the theaters. Go and find things that they are promoting or selling and buy, share, and tell others about them. Word of mouth helps a lot to spread the artist getting them to a bigger audience. A lot of the streaming services that are being created now allow independent filmmakers to get their content out the the world. More and more filmmakers and content creators have the ability to showcase their work and this ecosystem is allowing more people to find new talent.
