We recently connected with Dom Delfino and have shared our conversation below.
Dom, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I started playing bass and guitar in my early teen years. I started listening to a lot of music and going to concerts often. As I continued to discover more music and practice my instruments something just started driving me. I think I was 16 years old when I attended my first Vans Warped Tour and I remember seeing all my favorite artists on stage performing and connecting with thousands of people and I just knew that’s what I wanted to do. I’m honored to now be able to create music that inspires others and connect with people in such a special way.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started my first band in my last year of high school, we didn’t really make it out of my garage but actually getting together with a full band ignited that spark and I started a new band in college which I got to play my first shows with, we even played a few shows in other states, it was short lived, I continued on into a few other bands throughout the years and was able to tour all of the United States and Canada as well.
I’m very proud of the music I’ve gotten to create and how many people it’s reached around the world. Speaking on mental health traumas and connecting with people who have hurt in similar ways I have is something so special and it’s really beautiful that we can come together and heal together through music.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
This one time we were on a tour, living out of an RV and we were far away from home (NY) out in Tucson Arizona. We had gotten to the venue early for our show and decided to venture to a nearby park to kill some time. Unfortunately we drove under something that we were a little too tall for and ripped the roof off our to the point it was unusable. We were stranded in Tucson for a few days before a fan actually came and brought us to a friends house in Phoenix. We started a gofundme and were so fortunate that our friends and fans came together in our time of need. We raised over $5000 and were able to shop around until 5 days later we found a used van on Facebook marketplace and purchased it. We missed 5 shows but were able to get back on our feet and continue tour. There was so much chaos going on during this time and I’m grateful our community had our back!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is definitely connecting and helping others. I’ve had beautiful conversations with people and shared stories and experiences that have truly changed my life. I have had people tell me our music has helped them through a dark time or stopped them from wanting to harm themselves and there’s really no better compliment than that. It really makes me feel like I have a purpose in this world and I’ve been in the same shoe as a lot of these people before coming from many years of depression, anxiety, traumas etc. so being able to help someone going through what I went through means everything.
