Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dom Davis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Dom, thanks for joining us today. We love asking folks what they would do differently if they were starting today – how they would speed up the process, etc. We’d love to hear how you would set everything up if you were to start from step 1 today
I did a lot of boot strapping and before I did research. I start doing a lot of research once I needed more capital and I should have done the research to start.
Young entrepreneurs and business owners need to understand that society will allow us to go 50-100k in student loan debt with no questions asked.
I would have prepped myself and set everything up to get my business credit in line.
I would’ve hired a mentor in the industry I’m in, as well as hire a business credit coach to make sure I’m using my time and money as efficiently as possible.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I run two businesses. 1, My networking/social club, 2, my junk removal business.
I got into Motivated Social by failing at my first business, which was a semi private training facility. I had to cover this overhead for another 8 months of the lease because I couldn’t break a commercial lease.
So, I turned my “gym” into an event space, hosted small events as well as rented it out, thinking “I’ll close this chapter when my lease is over”. – Nope, I met a lot of good people with knowledge and connections, from that, I kept the social club going where we host events every 6-8 weeks and bring like minded individuals together for a couple of hours and talk about topics that are critical to their business, job, and/or personal life
For my junking business, I fell into this industry by mistake, I was just trying to get rid of some old items at our house we were moving into, at the time, and I didn’t want to pay the outrageous prices I was getting quoted from the franchise junking companies.
From there, I did small jobs for friends and family and it turned into a small referral network and then just kind of blew up into a full fledge part time job/business.
I’m proud that my heart is in everything I do. During networking events I’m just happy to see people show up and actually get something out of the content, and see our founding members stretch their network larger and help more people. For my junk removal business, MXD junking is really a therapeutic experience. People seeing their cluttered spaces become available, their endorphins naturally kick in, when they start thinking of the possibilities of the extra space they always had.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Always doing email and text outreach!!! For motivated social, I’m targeting my people that have attended events, getting their feedback and asking them to be apart of it
For MXD junking, every couple of months, I’m sending out a mass text to hit a pain point; fall clean up, snow blowing, Christmas tree pick up, spring clean up.
On social media I’m double tapping everything and the things I do really like, I’m commenting with emoji’s or gifs – I want my potential and current know clients I’m in tune with them.
Always try to stay top of mind.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Being a good person and helping other when I can.
Everybody is dealing with something and fighting something that their hiding from the rest of the world.
Some people will let that show, but as a business owner and entrepreneur, whatever I’m personally dealing with can’t reflect on my business or it’s going to reflect in my bank account.
Show up ready to work and if you can’t show up ready to work, don’t show up. It’s hard to bounce back from a 1 star Google review, it’s hard to work your but off and not get a tip, if you’re providing a service, it’s hard to connect with people and let them bring you in their circle if you have negative energy.
Be a good person, have good intentions, and if your business isn’t the solution, have someone you trust that you can refer them to
