We recently connected with Dolores Nemi Caldentey and have shared our conversation below.
Dolores, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with what makes profitability in your industry a challenge – what would you say is the biggest challenge?
Many digital artists I know, who once thrived and could support themselves solely through their work, now face significant challenges. For instance, a friend who was previously successful in creating custom artwork and licensing designs has struggled as AI-generated art became more prevalent. Clients started choosing cheaper AI options, which reduced demand for original work. Coupled with frequent social media algorithm changes that decreased her visibility, she found it increasingly difficult to maintain her income.
Additionally, the unethical use of AI to replicate and exploit artists’ work without proper compensation has further complicated the situation. These issues have made it much harder for digital artists to sustain themselves full-time, as their income potential has been diminished by both technological shifts and unethical practices.

Dolores, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As “The Stars Collector,” I create celestial-themed artwork, turning the night sky into personalized, visually captivating pieces. My journey began with a deep fascination for space and digital design, evolving from a hobby into a full-time passion. I offer a range of products including custom star maps and space-themed art that commemorate special moments with personalized touches.
What sets me apart is my ability to combine intricate astronomical details with personal significance, transforming abstract cosmic elements into meaningful, memorable art. I’m proud of how my work connects with people on a personal level, turning their unique stories into beautiful visual representations of the night sky.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One story that illustrates my resilience involves a particularly challenging period when my anxiety was at its peak. Despite the overwhelming stress, I turned to my art as a form of solace and expression. I began creating pieces that not only reflected my own struggles but also resonated with others who faced similar challenges. This endeavor not only helped me cope with my anxiety but also fostered a sense of community and connection with those who found comfort in my work. Through this process, I transformed personal adversity into a source of inspiration and support for others, demonstrating how resilience and creativity can go hand in hand.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me has been consistently creating fresh and innovative content. By pushing the boundaries of creativity and regularly sharing new artworks and ideas, I’ve managed to capture the attention of a wider audience and attract clients who are excited by my unique approach. This constant stream of creative work not only showcases my versatility but also keeps my brand dynamic and engaging, leading to increased visibility and a steady influx of new clients.
