We caught up with the brilliant and insightful DOLO_EFMG a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi DOLO_EFMG, thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?

The legacy I’ve been building has been one of pure lyrical and musical innovation. The sound and business model we have created at EFMG is one which will have a timeless impact. There are many musicians which come and go and leave behind records of fleeting nature, moments in time which have the slightest ability to jog ones memory. The impact I seek to leave behind with these records are everlasting moments of high quality music. Once the records we produced are played, we want to ensure 10, 20, 100 years down the line you receive the same feeling you had once you first enjoyed what you heard. I’m working my hardest to be remembered for the pushing out the highest quality I can at every opportunity to do so, and with my debut album releasing 12/1 this will be a true test to our most recent efforts. Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

This label started with just four members who like to record music in the basement of a Stone Mountain, GA home. From there it progressed into a full scale record label. Enfamous Familia Music Group was born and even without us really knowing it, we were servicing a large part of the community and providing a place for people to release there creativity. As the clientele continued to grow, so did our services. Songwriting, production, arrangement, vocal coaching, recording, promotion, and more came at an early time for us. We made sure to stay on top of everything and to handle business accordingly. so we could stay true to our mission at hand, which is timeless music and high quality production. Losing one of our founders really brought a shift and new perspective to us within the organization, therefore we have been working a few new angles while still looking for new talent to bring underneath the regiment. I would say the journey has definitely been interesting and we have faced many challenges along the way, but I am most proud of our work ethic and strides we have made as an independent label. There is still plenty more to accomplish but, to be able to celebrate the type of wins we have while on our path is something we make sure to take note of because we are far from done.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

Well, I think just being genuine. I try to keep and open mind and neutral train of though when it comes to meeting new people and collaboration. Everybody is different and has there own way of thinking, background, morals, and being open to new perspectives has allowed me to maneuver through multiple spaces. I also try to make sure I support things I truly rock with. We all know everybody is living busy lives these days but I still try my best to get out and support people who are really passionate about there craft, really want to connect the people, and have a vision for their end product because that is me. These people inspire me to keep going because we all have the same goal and I think showing this reciprocated energy is what (I hope lol) has lead to my reputation in the industry.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

The main engine driving this machine is to ensure I keep my boy E legacy alive with the group he founded. We all started this together, but he named it and brought the vision to the fore front for us to begin to push it and have it legitimized. Without that instance in time there maybe would have never been a group or label, so everyday I remind myself I have to keep pushing until the mission is complete, until EFMG is a household name.
