We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Doctor Junior a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Doctor Junior, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Our most meaningful project is definitely our Inaugural Friendsgiving event on Nov. 12, 2022! We (as a band) have always wanted to host a massive event to celebrate music, art, comedy, & friendship. This event was our Magnum Opus of 2022. We curated an amazing lineup of musicians, comedians, live painters, lighting designers, photographers, & glass blowers. There are so many people that worked tirelessly behind the scenes for months to bring life to this event. It’s really cool to see all that hard work come to fruition.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Doctor Junior is a 5 piece multi-genre rock band. We spend most of our time exploring the rock and funk ends of the musical spectrum but we regularly dive into jamtronica, jazz, hip-hop, & R&B. We started as a duo in 2017 and slowly added members over the next couple of years. Since then we’ve traveled to some pretty cool places to play music. We’ve been direct support to some of our major inspirations, and have headlined some really cool music festivals. We strive to make each Doctor Junior unique, so we do a lot of live improvisation. it keeps us on our toes and gives the fans a unique experience every time they catch a show. Magical things can happen when you take big risks on stage, and so far, those risks have paid off really well for us.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Bringing people together. It’s a great and rewarding feeling to see tons of friends, family, & fans all come together at shows and festivals. It’s an amazing thing for people to come together for the shared experience of a concert. There’s an energy that you just can’t replicate any other way. The high we get from a great show is otherworldly.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Best way to show support is buy tickets to shows, bring a friend, & buy merch! Other ways to show support without spending money is to share albums or artwork on your social media pages. It’s free! You never know who may click that link and turn into a new fan. In todays music industry, there’s a ton of competition, but it’s never been easier for people to access content.
