We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful DoC Bravo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with DoC below.
DoC, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
My most meaningful project was most definitely a short film I made called “Zombie, My Friend”. The reason it’s my most meaningful project is because during production I actually felt like I made it, we had a Hollywood like atmosphere. We had a makeup artist, a WWE superstar and for me being a huge wrestling fan that was a celebrity in my eyes. As a person who’s also involved in the wrestling community I have gain a lot of notoriety for having a relevant well known name attached to my film.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Doc Anthony Bravo and I was born September 17th. I was raised in The Bronx, New York, As a child I always knew he had a calling for the stage and performing. As young as the age of 5 I’ve been performing on any stage I was allowed to get on. As I got older I got into songwriting and performing. I learned how to be a better lyricist and when I was finally given the opportunity to showcase my talents I did my very best to achieve success but when you’re doing everything independently that can be a hit or miss. Unfortunately I had a very little success as a lyricist and songwriter. I performed under the name DoC 1 but always wanted to transition into screenwriting. I had met a phenomenal human being named Maryann and she had a background in music and acting. I had told Maryann about my dream and aspirations but Maryann wasn’t a certified manager but she took on the task of learning how to be one to help my further my career. Maryann is the one who gave me the push that I needed to pursue acting & filmmaking. Unfortunately in June 2021 Maryann died and I was devastated because Maryann was the only person outside of my family to truly believe in me and this left me questioning the future of my career. Maryann was my mentor and I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it without her but knowing Maryann as well as I did I knew if she was still alive she wouldn’t let me give up for anything. So because of my kids, family and Maryann I am still pursuing this dream of mine because my motivation is stronger than my insecurities.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In 2013, I had a life changing experience. On the night of June 9th, 2013 my heart stopped while I was sleeping. The only saving grace I had is that my best friend realized I had stopped breathing and our roommate who was a EMT started CPR. If it wasn’t for those two I wouldn’t be here today. After that I knew I couldn’t waste anymore time and started to put my talent to work. I started putting my time and effort into creating my first EP album called the “Peyton Project”. After that event I learned that life is too short to just let time go to waste.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
In today’s world everything we do to market is best done through social media. The best thing anyone can do is share the information and help the marketing of an independent artist or creative. It honestly cost 0 dollars to hit the share button and if more people did that the better our product would reach people. xc
