Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dmitri George. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Dmitri, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the story behind how you got your first job in field that you currently practice in.
I was working my first “real” job since graduating from The University of Tampa with two bachelor’s degrees. I had gone through dozens of interviews with other firms and finally months later I had a God sent offer with an ideal work life balance. Lets fast forward 18 months into my role, Im thriving and approaching licensing. I worked in asset and wealth management for T.Rowe Price. One day I received a notice that the company was deciding on closing all Florida-based offices and I would have the opportunity to relocate to D.C. and in no way at all was this something I wanted to do. I finally had the consistency and financial security as well as personal peace of mind knowing that my career development was on track, so the idea of leaving was beyond tough. At this time, I was Personal training part time just helping a few friends and their referrals out with understanding nutrition and becoming more familiar with weight training equipment, but I never once thought to make this a career or my sole stream of income. I prayed about it, and spoke with my parents and mentor, and ultimately I made a HUGE leap of faith to trust my passion with fitness and helping people actualize their potential. In hindsight, it shouldn’t have worked…but this is a testimony of passion and persistence and for that I’m so happy I made that change in my life when I did.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Dmitri George I am 31 years old and an active Men’s Physique IFBB pro. I consider myself a premier fitness consultant and mental toughness coach. I have been a life-long athlete with experience in baseball, basketball, track, football, tennis, bodybuilding competition prep, photoshoot prep, and training for various DOD/Military physical fitness assessments. I worked as an assistant coach for a girls junior varsity basketball team at South Lake High school in Groveland,FL. And I am currently working on starting a nonprofit to coach and mentor young men & women about the many career paths in Personal Wellness industry, and the power of prioritizing health via nutrition & exercise. I begin my MBA + Master’s of Science in Clinical Nutrition in Fall of 2023.
Despite my business being very niche specific to glute development, I do work with everyone; male & female for all goals regardless of fitness experience or age.
I tell all of my clients that I don’t want to have them forever but rather I want to set you for success such that you feel confident without me. I am here to create change and independence, not dependence. This is something I am most proud of when get to witness firsthand the lifestyle changes that accompany the physical changes.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Other than training knowledge and experience, what I believe is most helpful for succeeding in this field are people skills; the ability to communicate and understand and teach. A great coach/trainer doesn’t force feed you but rather that professional should meet the client on their level and challenge them for growth at a pace that doesn’t cause steps backwards.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Absolutely there are many! As most, if not all of my clients, would say I am extremely big on preaching philosophy and changing mindsets to help you overcome the limitations we often create in our minds. Far too often do we cling to the familiar when we desire and require change, and fear of the unknown–no matter how big or small– is what holds us back from elevating our human experience.
I have this saying..” as an entrepreneur, you ARE delusional until your goals are reality and when it happens you’re unstoppable.” I like to apply this same concept with clients. I can’t tell how many women, particularly Moms, who didn’t believe it would be possible to ‘beat’ their pre-baby body. Even reading this now might sound odd to some, so I ask why? Why have we allowed limitations that we did not agree upon to affect our lives so much? This is where my mental toughness coaching comes into play.
Tim Grover & Robert Greene are two my favorites!
