We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful D’mitri De Castro. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with D’mitri below.
D’mitri, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you tell us about an important lesson you learned while working at a prior job?
I’n my current day job, the one lesson I daily learn that I apply to my business is to treat people with respect and not allow their frustrations to run off on me. I work in a call center during the day, and as such I deal with a lot of different kinds of people. Some are nice, some not so nice, but what I have learned is to keep a smile on my face and not let challenges dull my edge. I keep pushing to make their experience pleasant, and this rubs on my photography because I put forth all the more effort to make sure my clients have a good time. An example is I had a caller once who was just so upset when she called she was just cursing up a storm because she couldn’t get her claim paid. I worked with her and just tried my best to make thinks work out for her and spent over an hour on the phone with her, calling other providers, and trying to speak positively with her. By the end of the call you would have thought I was talking to a completely different person! It’s the same with photography, initially I have many clients who are shy and don’t want to be in front of the camera, but once we really get into the session they actually start having their own posing ideas!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a portrait and wedding photographer based in Orlando Florida. I started photography as a hobby back in college but quickly transitioned to making money when a good friend of mine hired me for her graduation photos. Since then I refined my craft and molded my brand, capturing my clients in their best real light and making sure I boost their confidence along the way. I make sure all my clients have fun and that by the end of the shoot they feel like models. For weddings I tell a complete story of the day, helping my clients realize their vision for their perfect day!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
For me the best source of new clients has been word of mouth. I have tried multiple sources like Facebook Ads, WeddingPro, and others, but all my clients come from me just posting my work online and from word of mouth from past clients.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I keep up with almost all of my clients via social media, so I will always reach out from time to time.
