Alright, DK thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?

The name of my Company is Dove Owl Films which is a play on my last name Davall. The two birds not only pronounce my name exactly, it’s also a perfect representation of what we’re about.

Dove’s represent Peace and a new beginning, and Owl’s represent Wisdom.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

DK Davall is the CEO of Dove Owl Films with a career spanning nearly three decades in the realms of television and film as a highly esteemed director and producer, who has earned a well-deserved reputation as a paragon of excellence.

Dove Owl Films has collaborated with esteemed major studios and production companies, including BET, Comcast NBCUniversal, HBO, and more. Our clientele reads like a who’s who of influential figures, including former President Clinton, the Prime Minister of Poland, the President of Rwanda, Prince Harry, and renowned personalities such as John Castro – CEO of Merrill Corp, Jazmine Sullivan, Kevin Hart, Eva Marcille, Ryan Seacrest, The Kardashians, and Oprah Winfrey herself.

Born into a family full of musicians and theatrical arts, DK Davall has been apart of countless stage plays, live performances, and shows which led him to graduate from the top performing Arts school majoring in Theater and Music.

Being fluent in multiple instruments and having the expertise to create an entire film has led Dove Owl Films to win several awards on their first released short film titled “What About Payment”. where Writing, Directing, Editing, and Scoring just to name a few has received high accolades.

Having the experience from working in every facet of production has been the key ingredient with the success of the Company. Whether we’re discussing filming a movie, red carpet events, reality tv show, working with high clientele from the President to the Prime Minster, music videos, weddings, etc, Dove Owl Films covers it all.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?

While working as a full time filmmaker in the industry, the company hit a slow rough patch. When this occurred, DK utilized his knowledge in other fields and worked full time as a Technical Support Manager for one of the Top Litigation Support Companies. This assisted financially and with networking which added to his experience.

As business began to pick back up, balancing both filmmaking and a 9-5 job was an extreme hustle which lasted for over a decade. However, the 9-5 job began to get in the way of the growth of Dove Owl Films.

The tough decision of letting go of the 9-5 job and going back full time with filmmaking was the only logical choice.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

DK brings a certain calmness, peace, and confidence when he’s in the room.

The most common thing you will hear clients say is, ” I feel comfortable around DK”, or I know I’m in good hands because DK is here.”.

This reality not only comes from having the experience from every possible extreme, but the guidance thats provided.
